LOOK || The Matagoan Bodong Consultative Council (MBCC), together with tribal elders, facilitated an amicable settlement between the parties involved from the Taloctoc and Basao tribes concerning a recent incident that occurred in Barangay Naneng.

The settlement meeting was held at the Tabuk People's Gym on June 24 and was attended by tribal leaders, elders, concerned parties, and local government officials committed to maintaining peace and harmony among the communities.

City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero personally participated in the dialogue and extended his support in resolving the issue through peaceful means.

TESDA Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez underscored the value of Technical-Vocation Education and Training (TVET) as a viable path to fast-track employment and highlighted the growing demand for Tech–Voc graduates in today’s job market.

“Hindi rin kasi maikakaila —dahil sa mundo ng trabaho ngayon skills na po ang labanan. Kung may skills ka angat ka. At ang mga in-demand na skills, sa tech-voc yan makukuha. At kapag usapang tech-voc, TESDA yan,” Director General Benitez said in his message as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the 19th Tabuk City Founding Anniversary formal program on June 23. His message was delivered by TESDA-CAR Acting Regional Director Glenn N. Murphy.

The significant impact of technical training on employment has driven TESDA-CAR to strengthen its support for the region.

Benitez emphasized that TVET provides the shortest runway to employment, as learners can acquire in-demand skills in just few weeks or months within which graduates can receive a National Certificate that can open job opportunities to them.

He also commended the outstanding skills of Tabukeño artisans, which is reflected in the city’s rich agricultural heritage and weaving traditions that have shaped and sustained Tabuk throughout its history.

He expressed TESDA’s readiness to support and hone local talent and turn them into verifiable skills that will allow the people to thrive in various industries.

“Ang ginagawa namin sa TESDA, tumutulong lang kami sa paghubog sa inyo. Pero ang talent, at puso-matagal na kayo niyan, mga tubong Tabuk. “We will continue to pursue the vision of President Bongbong Marcos—which is to invest in our people and provide Training that leads to Trabaho,” he said.

Recognizing Tabuk as a progressive city that prioritizes the welfare of its people, Director General Benitez called on local officials to sustain the success and progress built on the partnership of TESDA and Tabuk City LGU through continued engagement and collaboration, ensuring that programs and services remain responsive to the needs of the community.

“Nagkaroon na tayo ng progreso dahil nagtulong-tulong tayo. Hindi lang yan dahil sa akin o dahil sa TESDA…patuloy lang tayong magtulungan. Tech-Voc flourishes not when TESDA Central Office or Regional Office executes, but when TESDA and Local Government Units like Tabuk reach a synergy,” he said.

Brgy. Dilag and Brgy. Lucog emerged the Grand Champion of the 2026 Gangsa Award for Urban and Rural barangay category respectively for their outstanding performance under the Search for Good Local Governance in Barangays (SGLGB) demonstrating exceptional commitment to transparency, accountability, innovation, service excellence and community empowerment.

Dilag Punong Barangay Winnie Balitnang and Lucog Punong Barangay Nicanor Edas along with their council members received their incentives of 300,000 pesos, marker, and 1 set of gong during the awarding ceremony held on June 23 during the formal program of the 19th City Founding Anniversary celebration.

Top Performing barangays for both category were also recognized and awarded cash prizes and marker for setting the benchmark for excellence in barangay governance.
