PERIODS, FOOD AND LAST 10 DAYS OF RAMADAN 🙂
Alhumdulillah you got your periods/me**es!
And alhumdulillah for Islam where a woman can nourish her body with food and still perform a multitude of ibadaat and benefit from Ramadan.

For most Muslim women PMS means horrible sleeping pattern, mood swings and difficulty in ibadah because of it.

May Allah bless Muslim women around the world who tough out through all the hormonal changes and still try their best to worship. I have to go on a little tangent here and mention that hormonal changes in women are ofcourse not limited to periods.

Please enjoy food during your periods in Ramadan and do your ibadah. 𝐃𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐭𝐨. Your periods are a mercy from Allah, there is no shame in having them or eating in Ramadan while having them.
Attaching shame to periods and expecting Muslim women to hide and eat is cultural and not Islamic.

Let's make things easy for everyone. If you have been brought up a certain way and you want to hide and eat and pretend you are fasting do it. But please be kind and remember to not judge the sister who eats openly and let's her family know she isn't fasting.
I say this because sometimes women can be worse when it comes to judgement. Remember Ramadan is about taming our nafs.

For Muslim women periods should be a time to relax and wind down. Take it slow and concentrate on reading Quran while lying down, couple it with dhikr, pizza and constant dua.

We have narrations where our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would lie in the lap of Aishah (ra) and recite Qur'an.

A lot of Muslim sisters feel extra sleepy and need to sleep during their periods. Remember sleeping to restore your body IS IBADAH! Taking care of your body IS IBADAH. So if you are sleeping do not feel guilty about it. Low iron levels put you to sleep and bring in a new levels of lethargy.

📖 ❝Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.❞
{Surah Al Imran 3: Verse 191}

Alhumdulilah our religion is complete and beautiful. Unlike other cultures, women during their me**es are not considered unholy or cursed or untouchable in Islam.

📚Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to lean on my lap and recite Qur'an while I was in me**es.
[Sahih Bukhari - https://sunnah.com/bukhari/6/4]

May Allah accept ibadah of all women who miss out majority of last 10 days of Ramadan because of me**es. Please remember as a menstruating woman even in your period you can get laylatul qadr. Only thing you cannot do is offer salaah or fast. You can stay up for Qiyam make dua, make dhikr, revise your memorization, recite Qur'an.

Even just lying down and listening to Qur'an is ibadah if you are in pain or discomfort. Please remember to not limit your ibadah to fasting and salaah this Ramadan.

We have narrations where the women of Salaf would make wudu (even if it doesn't purify you) during me**es and sit on the prayer mat during prayer times and do dhikr.

The Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said, “Whoever says, 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,' 100 times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.”
[صحیح البخاری: 6405]⠀

You can do the same inshaAllah 🙂
