🎨The Designer Behind Safa92: A Story of Vision, Culture & Impact
When I first received the brief for the Safa92 onion seed packaging, I knew immediately: this wasn’t just about wrapping a product — it was about telling a story. A story of Pakistani agriculture, farmer pride, and innovation, all wrapped in one pouch. And I had one mission:
To make a humble seed look as powerful as the harvest it would produce.
💡 The Challenge
Onion seeds are not glamorous. The market was full of outdated designs, dull color schemes, and generic visuals. My goal was to break that mold — to design packaging that felt modern yet rooted in tradition, scientific yet emotional, bold yet respectful of its origins.
I had to create something that would:
Stand out on the shelf in local shops.
Communicate trust and quality instantly.
Be understandable by farmers from all backgrounds, even those with minimal literacy.
🎨 The Concept & Design Direction
I started with color — rich onion purples and reds, inspired directly by the product itself. This wasn’t just branding; it was storytelling through tone. The background mandala pattern hints at our cultural heritage, soft and elegant, supporting the strong visuals in the foreground.
Then came the typography — a bold Arabic/Urdu and English hybrid treatment for “Safa92”. It was important that the name had authority and clarity, yet still felt regional and authentic.
I also included:
A realistic onion visual, sliced open, to reflect transparency and freshness.
Modern iconography and a QR code, to show the product is both traditional and tech-forward.
A clear layout hierarchy, so even at a glance, a buyer knows: this is premium seed, this is local, this is trusted.
The backside design provided a new opportunity — a continuation of the onion layers, subtly symbolic of growth, layers of progress, and depth. Every inch of the layout was intentional.
🛠️ From Idea to Shelf
The biggest challenge was balancing modern design with accessibility. The farmers who buy this product aren’t graphic designers — but they know what quality looks like. Every iteration went through user testing, client feedback, and cultural alignment.
I worked closely with the client to ensure the Noor International brand was highlighted, while still letting Safa92 be the hero. The pouch wasn’t just designed to contain a product — it was designed to elevate it.
🏆 The Final Success
When the design launched, the feedback was overwhelming. Retailers praised its visibility, farmers trusted it instantly, and even export clients commented on the international quality look.
It’s now proudly seen on shelves across Pakistan and beyond — and as a designer, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing your work doesn’t just look good — it works.
🔮 What This Project Taught Me
Design has the power to bridge tradition and innovation.
Simplicity, when done right, feels premium.
Great packaging doesn’t just hold a product — it tells a story the buyer can believe in.
Safa92 wasn’t just another design job. It was a chance to use my skills to amplify a brand, uplift a product, and support the farmers who grow our future.
