CAPES Researcher Sharjeel Siddiqui attended the University of Lausanne - UNIL Summer School on Elites, Power and Inequalities (EPI) last week. He presented his research on the revolving doors among senior diplomatic officials as part of the workshop on Political Elites and the State.

The EPI is a two-yearly summer school organised by the SSP UNIL - Faculté des sciences sociales et politiques de l'Université de Lausanne and the Swiss Elite Observatory (OBELIS), with this year's school being co-organized by the University of Zurich. It serves as an important gathering place for young researchers and senior scholars working on elite studies and the sociology of elites internationally.

President CAPES Dr Khuram Iqbal writes for Dawn.com on the US-Iran deal and what it means for Pakistan and the Western Asian security. He argues that South Asian and West Asian security complexes are no longer analytically separable. The Saudi-UAE axis is no longer the same in Pakistan's policy imagination. Saudi Arabia desires to see extended role of Pakistan and Turkey in the region, while Abu Dhabi is keen on greater involvement of Israel and India. Consequently, friction in the security order of the region is inevitable.

The inaugural session of the Korea Pakistan Education Corridor (KPEC) Expo was held with a profound sense of purpose, bringing together the finest minds in education, policy, and academia under one shared vision of progress and collaboration.

The session was graced by Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, whose presence underscored the Government of Pakistan's commitment to fostering international educational partnerships and opportunities for Pakistan's youth.

Distinguished Professor Dr. Choi Jongin, President of Tongwon University, South Korea, and the Professor Dr. Anis Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, also presented address to highlight the importance of educational collaboration between the two countries.

The Inaugural Ceremony was attended by a large and enthusiastic gathering of students from universities across Islamabad, who attended with curiosity and eagerness to explore the doors that KPEC is working to open for them.
