Hey, remember that catchphrase, "Don't be Marcus"? It really stuck with me!
Marcus was so excited about buying his dream truck that he'd saved up for two years, racking up a cool $21,000 in the bank. He found a sweet 2018 Chevrolet Silverado on Facebook Marketplace, and the seller was super friendly. The truck looked absolutely perfect, with low miles, a clean exterior, and a great price. Marcus was so excited that he paid on the spot! He didn't need to do a VIN check or inspection, which was a huge relief. He just trusted the seller and went for it!

Sadly, the air conditioning stopped working, and then the electrical system also stopped working. To make matters worse, the engine started making a strange noise. He took it to a mechanic, who was very helpful. The mechanic called him over and showed him underneath the dashboard.
Waterline marks.
Rust inside the doors.
Flood damaged wiring
throughout the entire truck.
Thankfully, the truck had been completely submerged in Hurricane Harvey, but luckily it was rebuilt, cleaned up and sold to Marcus as "clean". The mechanic said it was worth about $4,000 to $5,000, but Marcus decided to go for it and paid $21,000!
I get it, and that's why a $58.99 VIN report would have shown:
โMajor flood damage
โInsurance total loss
โRebuilt title
โSold at auction twice
