Vibe Coding vs Software Engineering: What’s the Difference?
AI has made coding faster than ever.
With AI tools, developers can describe an idea, generate code, build features, and create prototypes in a very short time.
That’s the power of Vibe Coding.
But building software isn't only about generating code.
Software Engineering is about building a strong foundation.
It means thinking about:
→ Architecture
→ Security
→ Scalability
→ Performance
→ Maintainability
→ Testing
→ Reliability
You can generate a building very quickly.
But without a strong foundation, it may not stand for long.
The same principle applies to software.
Vibe Coding can help us move faster.
Software Engineering helps us build better.
I don't think we have to choose one over the other.
The future may be about using AI to increase our speed while using engineering knowledge to make sure what we build is actually reliable.
