**AED 3,000 spent on Google Ads. Clicks came in. Leads didn’t.**
And then the SEO guy gets the blame.
This happened with a UAE client I was working with.
Before launching the campaign, I repeatedly recommended improving their **SEO and Local SEO foundation first**.
Why?
Because the business was operating in a highly competitive market, while its local search presence was weak.
But the client wanted Ads immediately.
So we ran the campaign and optimized it from multiple angles — keywords, targeting, ad copy, landing page, and campaign structure.
The result?
**Clicks were coming. Inquiries weren’t.**
Around **AED 3,000 was spent**, and eventually the client felt that the problem was my work.
That part is frustrating.
Not because every campaign is guaranteed to generate leads — it isn't.
But because there is a common misconception in digital marketing:
**“If Google Ads gets clicks, the marketer has done their job.”**
No.
Clicks are not the final goal.
**Leads, qualified inquiries, and revenue are.**
And here is where I want to challenge the industry:
# # # Should businesses run Google Ads when their website has weak SEO, weak Local SEO, poor trust signals, and a weak local presence?
I'm not saying SEO is a mandatory prerequisite for every Google Ads campaign.
It isn't.
But when you're competing in a **high-CPC, highly competitive local market**, the entire conversion ecosystem matters.
Your:
→ Website
→ Landing page
→ Local SEO
→ Google Business Profile
→ Reviews
→ Trust signals
→ Offer
→ CTA
→ Keyword intent
→ Conversion tracking
→ Sales process
All influence what happens **after the click**.
So I want an honest answer from experienced **Google Ads & SEO professionals**:
**If a campaign is generating relevant clicks but almost no inquiries, where would you look first?**
And more importantly:
**Should the person managing Ads be blamed when the problem may exist far beyond the Ads account?**
I'm genuinely interested in expert opinions — even if you disagree with me.
Because I don't want to prove that SEO is better than Ads.
**I want to understand what actually went wrong.**
