This is a very common question, Amazon sellers ask and are confused about.

They mix things up, 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻-𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 is a bidding strategy that adjusts your bids in real-time based on the probability of conversion, If the Amazon algorithm thinks that you are not going to convert during an auction it will reduce your bids by 100%. This is a very cost-effective method, but only works well with some sales history you have already built and Amazon has data to work with.

The same goes for 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗨𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 bidding strategy, the "𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻" part is exactly the same as down-only bidding strategy but for "𝗨𝗽" part algorithm can increase your bids based on conversion probability.

"For 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, they can Increase bids by 100%
"For 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, they can Increase bids by 50%."

So if we take the same example in the picture attached,
if you put 50% on product pages placement, it means you are willing to pay 50% more on product pages, lets's say you are bidding $1 as a base bid, so for product pages algorithm can increase the bids by 50% for product pages, so $1 bid will become $1.5 for bidding strategy "Dynamic Down-only"

for Dynamic up and down, you are allowing Amazon to increase the base bids by 100% for TOS, And 50% for product pages.

So your $1 bid will become $2 (100% increase) and then placement will be applied 50% so your overall bid Will become $3 for Top of Search.

and for product pages, $1 bid will be $1.5 (50% increase) nd then placement will be applied 50% so your overall bid Will become $2.25 for Product Pages.

Dynamic Up and Down with Placements Modifiers is a deadly combination and should be used carefully, otherwise, you will be wondering how the heck CPC is that much high.

Review the pics attached:

𝗣𝗶𝗰 #𝟭 In the picture you can see that we went OOS stock in late June 2022, so I had to stop the campaign. You can see that this particular TOS campaign performed well in past.

𝗣𝗶𝗰 #𝟮 So we recently relaunched the product and I resumed this particular campaign on January 22nd, 2023, and this campaign started performing right away where it left off.
So it means even after pausing the campaign for a long period of time, the sales history remains and I've observed this on multiple campaigns for this product.

Most advertisers say, when you pause a campaign for a long period, all the history vanishes, so it's a myth, we should not believe in such myths.

You can be the highest bidder in the ad auction but still can't get the top placements if:

1 - You are not converting well, as compared to your competitors, if you historically have a bad conversion history and using a dynamic bidding strategy i.e down-only, Amazon won't trust you, and won't put you at top placement because of the low probability of conversion and simply Amazon wants to make money and make their customer's experience better.

You can still get top placements with a fixed-bidding strategy since there will be no alteration of your default bids by ad algorithm based on the probability of conversion.

2 - You are not bidding on the relevant keywords, because relevance is the main factor during an ad auction.

3 - You are not indexed on the keywords, you are bidding on, make sure you are indexed on all relevant keywords.

If your conversion history is great, you can win top placements even on relatively lower CPCs, because Amazon knows this product converts well as compared to others, so they can give you top placements even if you are not willing to pay higher.

If you have just launched a product, you can still get top placements with a fixed bidding strategy because you won't let the ad algorithm alter the bids based on the probability of conversion, if you go with a down-only bidding strategy, good luck getting the top placements, because Amazon algorithm will lower your bids during ad auction because you dont have a conversion history yet and this bidding strategy works on the probability of conversion.

A/B Testing is an integral part of any business, and you should always be testing with advertising and listing content and main image.

Recently done A/B testing with the Title, as you can see, Title B outperformed Title A by 92% and brought $1259 worth of more sales than title A.

How Manage Your Experiments Work?

Let's say you created an experiment for Title; now, what Amazon will do is that they randomly divide the audience or customers into two sample sizes or groups. Group A will always see the old Title, and Group B will always see the new experimental Title; the content won't be rotated over time but will be shown to two different groups of customers.

You can perform A/B testing with Title, Main Image, and A+ Content.
