When we first looked at this account, the signs were familiar.
Cost was high.
Clicks were low.
Performance felt stuck.
Most people react by increasing budget or changing bids.
We didnโt.
We paused and audited the account properly.
The biggest issue wasnโt ads or bidding.
It was non-serving and low-intent keywords quietly draining spend.
These keywords were:
โข Getting low impressions
โข No clicks
โข Not contributing to real performance
They werenโt โwrongโ keywords.
They were just not serving the goal.
So we did one important thing most advertisers ignore:
We removed what didnโt deserve budget.
Specifically:
โข Paused keywords with spend but no intent
โข Removed irrelevant search terms
โข Tightened match types to protect quality
Once the noise was gone, Google could finally do its job.
Clicks started increasing.
Average CPC began dropping.
Spend became cleaner and more controlled.
Same budget.
Same offer.
Better results.
This is why removing non-serving keywords isnโt optional.
Itโs one of the fastest ways to improve Quality Score, CPC, and efficiency.
If your Google Ads feel expensive, thereโs a good chance some keywords are silently working against you.
