**PMS KP Subject Selection – The Conundrum Busted**
(Apologies for not replying to everyone in person because of a busy schedule these days)
**Dear Aspirants,**
There is a lot of discussion on Social Media platforms regarding subject selection for the upcoming PMS exam. This query which might be irritating for so many seniors and the like is based on the fact that every struggling aspirant wishes to secure their position in the upcoming exam. So the worries and inquisitiveness are natural and justifiable to some extent. Here is how I look at the subject selection criteria. Nevertheless, this is not an exhaustive list and one may reasonably disagree with it. For me, the following parameters matter:
**1.** **Subject Value/Contributing Value**
There are certain subjects which seem to be of 100 or 200 marks but they do contribute to some more subjects during this journey. For example, those opting for Political Science will bear testimony to the fact that it contributes to Constitutional Law, Public Administration, some part of Pakistan Affairs and even English Essay. Similarly, ‘International Relations’ helps in covering Current Affairs, English Essay, International Law, US History and even Pakistan Affairs. So select a subject that helps you cover a broader domain to help you ease the pressure of studies during your journey.
**2.** **Scoring Trend**
Some of the subjects are pretty rewarding and remained quite scoring during in the past. Aspirants should look for such subjects. For example, subjects like Journalism, Philosophy, US History, Geography, European History, Botany, Chemistry, Psychology have so far been very promising. However, it should be kept in mind that such subjects get targeted time and again by examiners. Like in PMS 2016 Psychology, Islamic History and Geography were badly targeted. Similarly, the scoring trend has remained, generally, low for the following subjects:
· Indo-Pak History
· Sociology
· Forestry (in the last couple of years)
