How to Use Sponsored Display Ads to Boost Sales & Retarget Customers

Most Amazon sellers focus on Sponsored Products & Sponsored Brands, but Sponsored Display Ads (SDAs) are a hidden gem for retargeting, audience expansion, and competitor conquesting.

Here’s how I use Sponsored Display Ads to increase sales and reduce wasted ad spend:

1️⃣ Retarget High-Intent Shoppers

✅ Show ads to people who viewed your product but didn’t buy
✅ Use "Views Remarketing" to bring back lost customers
✅ Set aggressive bids for high-converting retargeting audiences

2️⃣ Conquer Your Competitors’ Audience

✅ Target competitor ASINs with weaker offers or stockouts
✅ Appear on their product detail pages with better deals
✅ Use Sponsored Display + Coupons to attract their buyers

3️⃣ Expand Beyond Amazon with Audience Targeting

✅ Show Amazon ads on third-party websites & apps
✅ Reach shoppers who searched for similar products but haven’t seen yours
✅ Use "Purchases Remarketing" to upsell related products

4️⃣ Optimize for Conversions & ACoS Control

✅ Test different creatives & headlines to increase CTR
✅ Use lifestyle images instead of plain product shots
✅ Monitor placement reports and adjust bids accordingly

💡 Final Takeaway:
Sponsored Display Ads are a powerful tool to retarget lost shoppers, steal competitor traffic, and expand your brand’s reach beyond Amazon. If you’re not using them, you’re leaving money on the table!

How to Scale Amazon PPC Campaigns Without Increasing ACoS

Many Amazon sellers struggle with scaling their PPC campaigns because as they increase budgets, ACoS also rises. But with the right strategy, you can scale sales while keeping ACoS under control.

Here’s how I scaled an Amazon PPC campaign by 60% without increasing ACoS:

1️⃣ Identify Your Most Profitable Keywords

✅ Find high-converting, low ACoS keywords from Search Term Reports
✅ Shift more budget to exact match & top-performing keywords
✅ Use product targeting ads on competitor listings with weak offers

2️⃣ Increase Bids Strategically

✅ Gradually increase bids on high ROAS keywords, not all at once
✅ Use Dynamic Bidding (Down Only) to avoid overpaying
✅ Adjust placement settings to focus on high-converting ad positions

3️⃣ Optimize Your Listing for Higher Conversion Rates

✅ Improve product images, bullet points, and A+ content
✅ Add customer reviews & FAQs to build trust
✅ Offer limited-time deals or coupons to increase urgency

4️⃣ Retarget and Expand Your Audience

✅ Use Sponsored Display Ads to retarget past visitors
✅ Launch video ads & brand campaigns to capture more attention
✅ Expand into new relevant keywords & long-tail search terms

💡 Final Takeaway:
Scaling Amazon PPC campaigns isn’t just about spending more—it’s about spending smarter. By focusing on profitable keywords, optimizing conversions, and leveraging retargeting strategies, you can grow sales while keeping ACoS in check.

🚀 How to Reduce ACoS in a Competitive Niche on Amazon PPC

Running Amazon PPC campaigns in a highly competitive niche is tough. Bids are high, competition is strong, and ACoS can quickly get out of control. However, with the right data-driven strategy, you can reduce ACoS while maintaining sales growth.

Here’s how I successfully lowered ACoS from 45% to 20% in a competitive niche:

1️⃣ Optimize Your Keyword Strategy

✅ Focus on long-tail keywords with lower competition but high intent
✅ Use Exact Match campaigns to reduce wasted spend
✅ Continuously check Search Term Reports to eliminate irrelevant clicks

2️⃣ Implement a Strong Negative Keyword Strategy

✅ Identify & block non-converting keywords and search terms
✅ Use negative exact & phrase match to filter out wasted ad spend
✅ Exclude irrelevant ASINs in product targeting campaigns

3️⃣ Adjust Bids Based on Data

✅ Lower bids for high ACoS keywords to improve profitability
✅ Increase bids on high-converting, low ACoS keywords
✅ Utilize Dynamic Bidding (Down Only) to prevent overpaying for clicks

4️⃣ Improve CTR & Conversion Rate

✅ Use high-quality images & videos to attract more clicks
✅ Optimize product titles & bullet points with strong benefits
✅ Test discounts & coupons to improve conversion rates

5️⃣ Leverage Placement Adjustments & Retargeting

✅ Adjust bids for "Top of Search" placements for high-performing keywords
✅ Run Sponsored Display Ads to retarget past visitors
✅ Use Product Targeting Ads to appear on competitor listings

💡 Final Takeaway:
Reducing ACoS in a competitive niche isn’t about cutting ad spend—it’s about spending smarter. By optimizing keywords, bids, ad placements, and conversion strategies, you can scale profitably while keeping ACoS under control.

Question: What is Suggestion bid.

Answer: The suggested bid is an average of all of the placements for the ad type and the bidders in the auction.

So it’s not the exact bid needed to win. It’s a suggestion for how high you need to bid in order to more than likely get impressions based off what everyone else is bidding.

"Private Labeling," is a popular business model on Amazon, often chosen by entrepreneurs looking to establish their brand and differentiate themselves from competitors. Here's a detailed explanation:

**Private Labeling on Amazon**:

**1. **What Is Private Labeling?**: Private labeling involves selling products under your own brand name or label that are manufactured by a third-party supplier. In this model, you don't create the product from scratch; instead, you find existing products, often from manufacturers or wholesalers, and brand them as your own.

**2. **Product Selection**: The first step is to identify a niche or product category that you want to enter. Extensive market research is crucial. Look for products with high demand and relatively low competition. Tools like Amazon's Best Sellers list and third-party research tools can help in this process.

**3. **Supplier Sourcing**: Once you've identified the product you want to sell, you'll need to find a reliable supplier. This can be a manufacturer, wholesaler, or even a private label supplier. They will produce the product with your branding, packaging, and sometimes minor customizations.

**4. **Branding and Packaging**: You'll need to create your brand identity, including a brand name, logo, and product packaging. Your branding should communicate the value and quality of your products. Many private label sellers opt for professional graphic designers to create their branding elements.

**5. **Amazon Seller Account**: To sell on Amazon, you'll need to set up an Amazon Seller account. Choose between an Individual Seller account (for those selling a few products) or a Professional Seller account (for more substantial operations).

**6. **Listing Your Products**: Create product listings on Amazon with your private label products. Optimize your product listings with high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and competitive pricing.

**7. **Inventory Management**: Depending on the product and your sales strategy, you may use Amazon's Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service, where Amazon stores, packs, and ships your products. Alternatively, you can fulfill orders yourself (Fulfillment by Merchant or FBM).

**8. **Marketing and Promotion**: Promote your products through Amazon advertising, social media, and other marketing channels. Building a solid online presence and garnering reviews are critical for success.

**9. **Customer Service and Quality Control**: Provide excellent customer service and monitor product quality. Address customer inquiries and issues promptly to build a positive reputation.

**10. **Scaling**: As you gain traction and generate sales, consider expanding your product line or venturing into related niches. Scaling your private label business on Amazon is a gradual process that requires continuous improvement and adaptation.

Private labeling offers the advantage of creating a brand and potentially higher profit margins compared to reselling other brands' products. However, it also demands substantial research, investment, and ongoing management to succeed. Successful private label sellers on Amazon often combine effective product research with strong branding and marketing efforts to stand out in a competitive marketplace.

1. **Private Labeling**: Crafting your own unique brand and products can be a game-changer. By sourcing products and selling them under your brand, you have control over quality and pricing.

PPC TERMINOLOGIES | PPC OPTIMIZATION | PPC BIDDING GUIDELINES.

What is an Impression?
What is Clicks?
What is CTR?
What is CPC?
What is the Conversion rate?
What is ACOS?
When to optimize ACOS?
What is TACOS?
How to calculate Net profit Margin?
What are PPC Bidding Guidelines?
What are the guidelines and parameters that should be kept in mind?

IMPRESSION:
The number of times your ads displayed to the customer/shopper. But not necessarily click on. because Amazon doesn’t charge on an impression.
CLICKS: The number of times the customer/ shopper clicks on your ads. Amazon charges when someone clicks your ads, that’s not necessarily that they must purchase when they click on it.
CTR (Click Through Rate): The number of time amazon shows your products ads and the shopper/customer click on it every time that was shown. Example: Like amazon shows your ads to the 100 person and 10 people click on your ad, its means your click-through rate is 10%. There is the formula of check the CTR = clicks on the ads/impression = CTR. CTR also shows your ad optimization. When your CTR is low so it's alarming like there is something wrong in your ad, they didn’t attract shoppers to click on it and check the features that you are provided in the product.
CPC (Cost Per Click): The amount that Amazon charges when someone clicks on your ads. Amazon not just focus to make money they have a specific method and logarithm to charges you, it's really important to step when you setting a campaign. CONVERSION RATE: The amount of number who’s visiting your listing and then purchase your products. One of the main factors that show your campaign effectiveness. When some click your ads, visit your listing and doesn’t purchase your product it means your conversion rate is low. If your conversion rate is high when amazon rewards your listing and increases your rank.
ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sales): ACOS is the ratio of total cost spend on ads to the total sales generated from ads. ACOS is used to measure the performance of our sponsored ads campaign. Lower the ACOS, better the performance of our campaign. ACOS = (Total Ad spend / Total sales generated from Ads) x 100 ACOS only affects the profit on ad sales, not the organic sales. Let’s say your profit margin is 40% and your ACOS is 40% then Ad sales Profit margin = Profit Margin – ACOS = 40-40= 0
ACOS Optimization: This indicates that you are selling at breakeven with ad sales and it doesn’t mean your overall account is not profitable. Remember organic order that increases due to PPC campaigns are making 40 % profit. It is not always beneficial to lower your ACOS. When you are launching a new product your ACOS can be very high for weeks or months because you want to rank on certain KWs that might be very competitive. We can use PPC and higher ACOS: To gain market share to scale your business. To improve our organic ranking diversity. No ad sales profit More sales overall & more profit Now when you have a good position on multiple KWs then we can optimize our campaign to lower down ACOS to enjoy more profit on ad sales.
TACOS (Total Advertising Cost of Sales): It is the ratio of total cost spend on ads to the total sales generated from ads as well as organic orders. It is more important to focus on TACOS rather than lowering ACOS at the growth stage. TACOS = (Total Ad spend / Ads sales + organic sales) x 100 Now let’s calculate Net profit Margin after all ad spend. Example: organic profit margin = 40% ACOS= 40%, Ad spend = $10000, Ad sales = $25000 Organic sales =$40000, Total sales= $65000 Calculate TACOS % = (10000/65000)x 100 = 15.38%.
Net Profit Margin: Net Profit margin = Organic Profit – TACOS = 40 - 15.38 = 24.62% Although ACOS is 40% yet seller is making around 25% profit.
PPC Bidding Guidelines: Several newbies and sellers ruin their campaigns just because they were too hasty about changing their bids. They would either change their bids too often or make sharp changes in their bids. If they had known what guidelines or parameters they could follow, they would have saved a lot of their hard-earned money. Their campaigns would have run effectively and efficiently without any issues.
Guidelines and Parameters that should be kept in mind: We should not be in a hurry to change our bids. I have seen sellers ruining their campaigns just because they were hasty about it and would change bids before 24 hours. They would not let a campaign run for enough hours to help them reach an accurate conclusion about their campaigns. The general rule is that one should not change their bids before 4 days. Raise your bids by not more than 8% if you are getting very few impressions and clicks. Increase your bid by not more than 8% if your ACOS is less than your targeted ACOS Decrease your bid by not more than 10% if your ACOS is higher than your Targeted ACOS Decrease your bid by not more than 15% if you have obtained more than 25 clicks with zero sales Decrease your bid by 25% if your ACOS has been more than 100% for more than a week. Happy learning
