The Dragonfly Kitchen is about personal lifestyle & personal behaviour. The food is for persons always “on the go” or leading a busy life. A balanced, clean and tasty range of foods that are freshly prepared with ingredients that are free from additives, preservatives and artificial colouring. We don’t claim to be healthy, our belief is in achieving balance.

- Why Dragonfly and its symbolism? Th

e dragonfly is considered to be an agent of change and a sense of self-realization. A realization to how we live our life and how it must change for the better. Having been around for over 300 million years the Dragonfly has been subject of intrigue across many civilizations. It is formed part of many myths and legends across many continents. The Dragonfly is a symbol of Maturity and Depth of Character, Power and Poise, Focus on living “IN” the Moment.

- Connecting with Dragonfly Kitchen and becoming a part of the DfK Tribe. When we talk about change, it’s the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life. The dragonfly scurries across the water representing an act of going beyond what’s on the surface and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life. Its ability to move in all six directions exudes a sense of power and poise – something that comes with age and maturity. The iridescent colours on the dragonfly’s wings can be perceived as the end of ones self-created illusion and a clear vision into the realities of life. It can also be associated with the discovery of one’s own abilities by unmasking the real self and removing the doubts one casts on his/her own sense of identity. This again indirectly means self-discovery and removal of inhibitions. This dragonfly’s style of life symbolizes and exemplifies the virtue of living IN the moment and living life to the fullest. By living in the moment you are aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you want, what you don’t and make informed choices on a moment-to-moment basis. This ability lets you live your life without regrets like the great dragonfly.

80% of the insect’s brain power is dedicated to its sight and the fact that it can see in all 360 degrees around it, it symbolizes the uninhibited vision of the mind and the ability to see beyond the limitations of the human self. It also in a manner of speaking symbolizes a man/woman’s rising from materialism to be able to see beyond the mundane into the vastness that is really our Universe, and our own minds. Thus, the Dragonfly Kitchen is about achieving a balance in how we behave, what we do, what we perceive (think) and what we eat. The patron of our kitchen is a person that connects with these values.

Beets are kind of strange. Not everyone gets excited about them and many have never tried them. They do have a very unique flavor and texture. I polled women in my 30 Day Challenge and asked them which of my recipes they thought they wouldn't like but ended up loving. My Hummus Beet Wrap recipe (I'l...

DFK Sunday brunch - Shakshuka.

Made this for the first time. What flavours, what a taste. Had my tastebuds alive in no time.

Shakshouka or shakshuka is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions, often spiced with cumin.

In its present egg and vegetable-based form it is of Tunisian and Moroccan Jewish origin and is now popular among many ethnic groups of the Middle East and the Maghreb.
