Staying focused on the job and being productive, while at home, takes discipline.
You may find it challenging to set your own schedule and easily get distracted.
It’s vital to maintain a business mindset and daily routine.
Try the following:
1) Keep your usual routine, get ready for the day the same way you would if you were heading into the office: get up, have breakfast, get dressed, and go!
2) Dress up in presentable clothes to set a professional mindset
3) Have a designated workspace
4) Set objectives & daily tasks, write them down
5) Create structure: set working hours and stick to them
Make sure the way your day is scheduled is a reflection of your natural energy
6) Work in time blocks (maximum 2 hours at a time), as it is easier to be disciplined and focused
7) Take a proper break: have lunch, listen to a podcast, have a workout, go for a walk, connect with a friend
8) Connect with other people: have regular check-ins with your manager and team, talk to your colleagues, friends, family members, keep active social life (now online!)
9) Finish work at a certain time (it’s easy to get carried away so a hard stop is a must!)
Think of something you do that separates your work day from off time (have a drink, cook dinner, take a shower), something you really enjoy
10) Set boundaries: be clear with your family and friends about your work schedule, teach them to respect it
11) Look after your wellbeing: exercise, remember to eat quality food & drink water
Do not
1) Wear your pyjamas
2) Work from your bed or sofa or any kind of relaxation zone
3) Check your social media
4) Take too many breaks
5) Think of pending house work (laundry, cleaning, shopping)
