HOY || Sol/Challengers v Valencianas - The Brief
We have the opportunity to extend our lead at the top of the Liga PR table on today as we travel to Juncos to take on Valencianas CBJ, 8:00PM kickoff .
THE STORY SO FAR
Following a good start to the season, we are aiming for three points against the hosts.
We’ve not shown a clinical edge in front of goal over the course of the season so far, scoring twelve in two games, but still missing chances.
But how much more is there to come from this group of players?
“This team can do much more,” said Shek Borkowski. “We want to compete at that next level and compete with the top teams in CONCACAF.
“To do that we have that mentality that every game is important and we have to play at optimum. With the journey we’re on at the moment we are just getting started, I think we can achieve more.
“Will there be some little pitfalls? Absolutely, but you need those to keep you in check and on the right track every once in a while.
“I’m just really eager to do some good work with this group, some innovative work, and take it to the next step. To be given the opportunity to do that and the time to do that now is really exciting.”
THE OPPOSITION
This will be a second outing for Valencianas (0-0 last week against Mayaguez SC) and they will be well organised and hard working. They look to play with eight behind the ball and to counter.
THE COACHES NOTES
“We have seen them play last week and are a team capable causing problems. They have an excellent goalkeeper and their centre midfielder is the one who organises and creates,” said Shek Borkowski. “Tonight, it will be a tough physical battle for us and we take nothing for granted.”
ONE TO WATCH
Karina Socarrass leads the league in scoring with 4 goals and will be heavily counted on to deliver more tonight.
We will need to play at a high tempo tonight as Valencianas are fit and hard working.
