The one year anniversary of the full scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is now. Local Ukrainian journalists continue to risk their lives to tell the story of the battle for their homeland and defense of democracy. The need for proper hostile environment training of Ukrainian journalists to protect them in the field remains paramount. We are partnering with The Frontline Club with partial proceeds from this sale for scholarships to enable more local journalists to take a hostile environment course, which includes medical first aid training.

For the past 40 years, photographers of VII Photo have sought out moments of dignity amidst social upheaval, war, famine, and other social concerns. Of the millions of images these men and women documented, a few photographs have risen to the top for their intensity, beauty, and power.

These are images museums have deemed iconic, that collectors deem as valuable. At VII, we have been fortunate to share these moments with people who live through these stories, beginning to end. To honor and assist Ukrainian journalists that are risking their lives to report on the victims of this war, VII is releasing these prints from our photographers who are documenting the Ukraine story, along with a wider selection of work that has profoundly affected us on our journeys.

Each special edition 8”×10” photograph is hand-signed by the photographer. Printed on Crystal Archive museum grade C-Type paper at New York City’s top photographic lab, these images are beautifully packaged and sleeved in fully archival materials. Each print is embossed with the VII logo and comes with a certificate of authenticity printed on museum grade acid-free paper.

تاريخ الطباعة في فلسطين

- عرفت فلسطين الطباعة منذ منتصف القرن السادس عشر الميلادي .

- من أوائل المطابع بالشام كانت مطبعة القدس سنة ١٨٤٦م .

- أسست في القرن التاسع عشر ، وأوائل القرن العشرين بعض المطابع التجارية في القدس وحيفا ويافا .

- ازداد نشاط الطباعة في فلسطين على أثر إعلان الدستور سنة ١٩٠٨م ، وإطلاق حرية الصحافة ، ومن هذه المطابع المطبعة الوطنية التي أسسها في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر الأديب ألغونس انطون ألونصو ، وكانت تطبع مجلة النفائس لصاحبها خليل بيدس ، وجريدة الكرمل التي أصدرها نجيب نصار .

- كان في مقدمة الصحافيين الذين أنشأوا مطابع خاصة الصحفي جرجي حبيب حنانيا ، الذي كان يطبع في مطبعته جريدة القدس ، التي أسسها سنة ١٩٠٨م ، ويطبع فيها أيضاً مجلة الأصمعي لصاحبها حنا العيسى .

- وكان لعيسى العيسى ، وأخيه يوسف داود العيسى ، مطبعتهما الخاصة في يافا ، كانا يطبعان فيها جريدة فلسطين التي أصدراها سنة ١٩١١م .

- وأسست في القدس مطبعة دار الأيتام الإسلامية ، ومطبعة دار الأيتام السورية ، وكان يصدر عنهما كثير من الجرائد والمجلات .

- وضمت يافا عدداً من المطابع ، منها المطبعة العصرية ، ومطبعة الحرية ، ومطبعة الدفاع ، ومطبعة الفجر .

تأثرت الطباعة بتوقف أكثر الصحف عن الصدور خلال الحرب العالمية الأولى ، فتأخر شأنها ، ثم عادت إلى النشاط بعد الحرب .

لكن المطابع العربية ظلت غير قادرة على مواكبة التقدم في الطباعة ، بسبب الأوضاع السياسية المضطربة أيام الاحتلال البريطاني ، وتدهور الحياة الاقتصادية في فلسطين .
