Can a font finder still name the font when the word is painted on a brick wall, half in shadow, saved as a rough JPEG? We built WhatFontIs-Bench to measure exactly that: 11,995 labeled images of 600 fonts on textures, scenes and printed objects, at three difficulty levels. The WhatFontIs API gets the right family first 83.7% of the time and in the top 20 for 96.5%. The dataset is public, so you can test your own tool too.
