Today marked the successful completion of the medical training programme implemented within the HEALTHERA project. Over the course of six training sessions, more than 120 participants, including medical professionals from Tulcea and Izmail, took part in practical workshops focused on strengthening emergency response skills and improving professional knowledge in patient care.

The conclusion of the sixth training session represented the completion of one of the project's planned capacity-building activities. Organised by Tulcea County Council in partnership with Red Cross – Tulcea Branch, the programme contributed to improving the professional capacities of hospital staff and specialists working directly with vulnerable citizens. The practical format of the workshops encouraged the exchange of experience and reinforced the application of common medical procedures in emergency situations.

Beyond their educational value, the training sessions strengthened the partnership between Tulcea County Council and the Executive Committee of Izmail City Council. The active participation of medical professionals from both countries demonstrated the commitment of the partner institutions to work together in addressing common healthcare challenges. The workshops also created opportunities for direct dialogue between specialists, facilitating professional cooperation that extends beyond the duration of the project.

The successful completion of this activity reflects the practical objectives of HEALTHERA: supporting healthcare institutions through investment, professional development and cross-border cooperation. Together with the ongoing investments in medical equipment and hospital infrastructure, the training programme contributes to building stronger institutional capacity and improving the quality of healthcare services available to communities on both sides of the border.

The results achieved during these six workshops provide a solid foundation for future cooperation between the partner institutions and confirm the value of sustained collaboration in developing resilient and well-prepared healthcare systems.

The 2026 Blue Economy Expert Forum recently concluded with the establishment of a strategic, result-oriented action plan designed to accelerate sustainable development across Tulcea County and the wider South-Eastern European macro-region.

Co-organized by the Tulcea County Council, the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (INCDD), and Complex Delta Tulcea, the three-day summit (16-18 of June) served as a high-level platform for international specialists, researchers, public administrators, and business leaders. The strong attendance underscored the growing economic and ecological importance of the blue economy in linking local initiatives to broader European frameworks.

A major focus of the deliberations was aligning regional development with EU green growth objectives. Discussions centered on transforming the area into a pivotal transport hub by optimizing maritime and river corridors. To safeguard the Danube Delta’s sensitive ecosystem, experts emphasized the necessity of deep decarbonisation across regional transport and energy networks.

The economic impact on the macro-region was further explored through frameworks for sustainable and renewable tourism. Participants noted that transitioning to eco-conscious hospitality models would generate durable economic benefits for local communities while preserving regional biodiversity. Furthermore, the forum highlighted cross-border cooperation as an indispensable mechanism for managing shared resources and driving synchronized regional policies.
The 2026 edition successfully established a new benchmark for institutional and economic collaboration, positioning the region as a leader in sustainable growth and environmental initiatives.
