A Farewell to My Beloved Lucky Lim 🌿
Seventeen years ago, a little Jack Russell Terrier entered our family’s life—my playful son, Lucky Lim. He was a precious gift for my daughter, and from the very first day, he became part of us, filling our home with joy, laughter, and unconditional love.
I still remember him waiting at the main door, wagging his tail, barking, and jumping with excitement every time someone in the family came home. He loved swimming at Sentosa and Sembawang seaside—his favorite hobby. At night, he would curl up and fall asleep in our bed, bringing comfort with his presence.
Even in his final days, when walking became difficult and his body grew weak, Lucky looked at me with those gentle eyes that seemed to say, “Sorry.” My heart broke each time. I tried my very best to care for him, to clean him, to comfort him. Sometimes, when I was tired, I scolded him—and for that, Lucky, I am so sorry. Please know that my love for you was always deeper than words.
Every Tuesday, I bathed him. Every single day, I loved him. On 7 September, just after midnight, I had to make the hardest decision—to let him go and free him from pain.
Lucky, thank you for 17 wonderful years of companionship, love, and unforgettable memories. You were more than a pet—you were my son, my best friend, and my loyal companion.
Though you are no longer by my side, your spirit will forever live in the hearts of your family. I still keep your toys, your bowls, your things, as if you might return for one last visit. One day, we will meet again. Until then—rest well, my dearest Lucky.
