Collab Repost

Enjoying my long weekend by burning a scented candle from to create a cozy mood to unwind and relax. Chernobyl Rain Candle - love this great soy wax candle addition to my home.

It has woody scents, and the scent is minimal and not too overpowering. It’s so calming and I totally love this scent. First time using soy wax candle and it can last longer to the usual wax candles.

Quote ‘Suelynang’ for 15% off the candles now.

How did you come up with the idea for Indian Spicebox?

When I was living in New York, I had just gotten a new job at an ad agency and new employees were asked to showcase their ‘talent’ at the monthly company staff meeting. I had recently got married and was cooking a lot for my Indian food loving husband. So I took in my spicebox for the talent show for the meeting and did a small presentation on Indian cooking basics and spices. My colleagues loved learning about Indian cooking and many of them asked me to help them assemble a spicebox and suggest some cookbooks. I struggled to find good cookbooks that were quick, easy, well-written and relatable for our generation. I’ve been a writer since college and decided then that I would one day write my own cookbook and package it with a spicebox. That idea was born in 2004, and I founded the company and created our signature product the ‘Spicebox Kit’ in 2014. Corporate life kept me busy (and gave me lots of incredible experience) but I didn’t let go of my idea and dream. The Spicebox Kit includes my cookbook along with the nine organic spices you need to cook all the recipes in the book, all beautifully packaged together. The best part is that each Kit funds hot meals for underprivileged children in India.

How did you come up with the idea for Superman?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Supermama was started by my husband and myself when we were tired of the hectic lifestyle and not being able to spend a good time with our family, especially after the birth of our second child in 2010. Hence, we decided to take a year’s break and set up a retail store! Strangely, the name “Supermama” had been on my husband’s mind two years before the start of the store, so much so that he had it on his car licence plate. So when we decided to open a retail store, retailing well-designed goods, the name became so intuitive to us. (Read the full interview on minimedia.sg - link in bio)

How did you come up with the idea for ENVET?

ENVET was born in 2016 out of a school project that I have done in Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore. I had a lot of trial and error in the beginning and clueless when it comes to starting a business. Through many experiences and rejections, beyond my wildest imagination, what was then a school project grew into a brand that resonated with people around the world.

This week we feature the Sunday Bedding founded by Alex and Clara who understand the value of a good night sleep and have created bedding with sustainable textiles with products made from bamboo and cotton. 🛌
-
Here is a brief from the interview with her (full article link is on our bio) ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. How did you come up with the Idea of Sunday Bedding? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The idea of Sunday Bedding started when we were shopping for our new home together. We quickly realized that as consumers, it was easy to get lost in the jargon like ‘thread-count’ or ‘weave’ without really understanding how this affects sleep. Sleep is also so personal, and as a couple, we have entirely different sleep preferences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Combining Alex’s expertise in home textiles (his family has been in the textiles business supplying products to established American & European clients for decades) and my interest in building an e-commerce brand. We launched Sunday Bedding with the hopes of becoming everyone’s sleep sommelier.

This week we feature the Revered Artistry founded by Atiqah who created an alternative for the famous beauty blender and many more amazing products!

Here is a brief from the interview with her (full article on minimedia.sg) ✨

1. How did you come up with the idea for Revered Artistry?

We wanted to create a community of like-minded people from all walks of life that shares the same value as us in wanting to be revered for who they are. When we started, we were at a makeup academy and was looking for beauty sponges that were super soft and affordable to replace our old sponges. So we set out to produce our own by sourcing for a supplier that could produce a beauty sponge according to our specifications in terms of softness, shape and colour. We found an opportunity to turn our passion into business by first selling our beauty sponge which we called Plush Sponge to our makeup artist friend to get their feedback before putting them in the market and that was how it all started. Since there was a lot of focus on perfecting our artistry in the academy, I thought Revered Artistry was perfect to embody that value of being respected for our skills. And we call our customers Revered Artists.

Here is a brief from the interview with her (full article on minimedia.sg) ✨

1. How did you come up with the idea for Yocha?

Yocha started out from my personal health journey with kombucha. I suffered from Eczema and Sinusitis since teenage years, and discovered an article about fermentation food helps manage allergy. So I started researching and experimenting with it. Got myself milk kefir, kombucha and took them diligently everyday ever since. My sinusitis went away after six month and my eczema doesn’t flare up as much or as severe anymore. I am now free of steroid medication and could lead a normalpain-free life, couldn’t be happier for something that I chanced upon. That was 5 years ago.

Here is a brief from the interview with him (full article on minimedia.sg) ✨

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. How did you come up with the idea for The Edible Garden City? -

I spent about four years working on organic farms in Spain, Scotland and Japan. Upon returning to Singapore, I wanted to continue farming, but due to the space constraints here, it was difficult to secure a piece of land for farming. I really believed in the importance of growing our own food, and the immense benefits even small-scale farming can bring, and so I was determined to grow food. 🏡 🌱🌏
