The troupe is officially out!
The troupe beat is an outcome of last year’s One Nation Reggae Festival. It fuses reggae and local instruments played by the Sierra Leone National Dance Troupe. This initiative represents the first step toward creating sounds that are both rooted in culture and globally appealing.

This is for Sierra Leone!
This is for Africa!
This is legacy!
It is ours so let's embrace it!

Empress Lyana Emerges Winner of the Troupe Beat Sound Competition.

7th May 2026.
Dove's Nest, Freetown.

Standing out as the only female among 13 contestants in the Troupe Beat Sound Competition, Empress Lyana captivated judges and audiences alike with her charismatic voice, commanding stage presence, and well-composed performance, earning her the top spot in the competition.

Born out of the One Nation Reggae Festival, the Troupe Beat initiative was created to strengthen and celebrate the cultural connection between Africa and the Caribbean through music.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, the Troupe Beat remains a raw sound with great potential for growth. She called on musicians, producers, and studio owners to embrace the beat, refine it, and develop it into diverse musical variations.

A unique fusion of reggae rhythms and Sierra Leonean traditional instruments such as the Balangi, Shebureh, drums, and others, the Troupe Beat is already gaining recognition and support from national artists including Lucan I, Jah Thunder, and many more.
