JUST IN Amb. Bol Wek Agoth Outlines Measures to End Apuk–Marial Wau Conflict
Warrap State Governor, Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, has outlined the mechanisms and procedures his administration intends to pursue to bring a final end to the conflict between Apuk and Marial Wau communities.
Governor Bol urged individuals involved in violence to surrender and called on those supporting or encouraging violence—whether from rural areas or urban centres—to immediately cease such activities. He warned that individuals found responsible for supporting violence or undermining peace would face justice, stressing that the law would apply to perpetrators and their supporters regardless of where they operate.
“I am entering into the second phase of the State of Emergency. The first phase was only dialogue to orient Warrap to stop fighting. Now I will be straightforward in restoring peace by reactivating the special courts that were implemented earlier through the Kongkoc initiatives.”
The Governor said the second phase would focus on concrete measures to restore law and order, hold perpetrators accountable, and ensure that the peace process between Apuk and Marial Wau moves toward a lasting and final settlement. He further emphasized that the responsibility for ending violence rests not only with communities in conflict-affected areas but also with individuals who finance, encourage, mobilize, or otherwise support violence from outside the affected areas.
