PRACTICAL Design Studio was established in 2004 by a group of graphic designers based in Bangkok with experience in professional and educational communication design. The aim is to employ the constructive idea and design skill in response to the social and cultural to show that the graphic design is valuable in terms of aesthetics and practicability. PRACTICAL has worked with many well-known organisations and companies, including Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture, Antalis (Thailand) Co., Ltd., “Show me Thai” Art Exhibition, “Portrait of The King” Art Exhibition, “King in Heart Project”, Somboon Seafood, Royal Institute, Bangkok University, Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, ThaiHealth, The Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage, SCG Paper, etc. In addition to basic functions of a design studio, PRACTICAL is a graphic design studio that initiated and organised the design activities on a regular basis, under the collaboration with the Thai Association of Graphic Designer (ThaiGa). PRACTICAL’s Designers also give lectures and presentations to many universities and organisations. In 2009, PRACTICAL organised the graphic design project “I am a Thai Graphic Designer”. In 2010, They have just joined their works to ‘Paper Matter’ a design exhibition and “heART to Heart” exhibition on construction hoarding in front of Rajprasong Junction. They also organised the graphic design forum “Somewhere Thai” that included 50 speakers to represent “Thainess” in design work. In 2014, PRACTICAL initiated a book design exhibition and workshop at ‘practice” new their own space that titled “This isn’t not a book”. During the past several years, PRACTICAL has co-organised with Japanese organisations hosting and curating exhibitions which included Japanese and/or Thai creators, for example Mirai-Chan by Kotori Kawashima (with Nana Roku Sha), Here is ZINE 7th Bangkok-Tokyo and Here is ZINE 8th Tokyo-Bangkok (with UBIES & Enlightenment). Recently PRACTICAL participated Asian Creative Cross Forum vol.1 as one of speakers about creative platform in Asia at Osaka Design Centre, Japan.
