Rostock, located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is a major German Baltic Sea port city with a population of around 210,000. Known as a historic Hanseatic city, it hosts the oldest university in the Baltic region (founded 1419). It is famous for its 15th-century astronomical clock, maritime history, and the nearby seaside resort of Warnemünde.
