Mr Musk has high hopes for the vehicle. The entrepreneur wants to use it to send satellites and people into Earth orbit and beyond.

Nasa has already contracted SpaceX to develop a version that can play a role in its Artemis programme, to once again land astronauts on the Moon.

Mr Musk himself is focused on Mars. He's long held the ambition to get to the Red Planet, to establish settlements and, as he puts it, to make humans "a multi-planet species". He's also talked about point-to-point travel, taking passengers from one side of our world to the other in rapid time.

They have travelled from Scotland to maintain the wild flower meadows at Wandlebury Country Park near Cambridge.

Ed Wombwell, estate manager for Cambridge Past Present and Future, which runs the park, said the cows' small size made them perfect for roaming the park's meadows.

He also stressed they were "not picky" about what they ate.

"They're small cows so they're perfect for our conservation," Mr Wombwell said.

A Mola spokeswoman said: "We haven't excavated it from its block yet, so there are lots of questions we can't answer. All we really know is the shape and that it is big and contains silver."

Based on the X-rays taken several months ago, archaeologists knew it had a garnet at its centre.

"The central garnet is the first part of the cross we've reached," she said.

Beach cleaner Emily Stevenson made the discovery and said the latest find was "really is in a league of its own".

Ms Stevenson, who co-founded Beach Guardian, was in Sennen, hosting a group clearing plastic from the dunes when she found the remains of a skull.

She said: "There have been times before, when I'm exploring hidden coves, or deep, dark caves filled with plastic, that I have worried about finding human remains. But it really wasn't expected on a popular beach like this."

"We have so many established diesel-powered generators, mega-trucks and underground machines. How do we decarbonise all those existing diesel engines? One way is to shut down everything and get new technology in, which will take decades," he says.

The plan is for the hybrid to run off a hydrogen-diesel mix or, in the absence of hydrogen, it can revert to diesel only.

Prof Kook hopes his new generation engine will become a commercial product within two years.

"Whilst opportunistic sightings do get posted to my page, the conservation of any wild animal is largely dependent upon continuous monitoring, which is why sighting data is so important," she said.

"Monitoring populations also enables the identification of general distribution patterns, important areas for different species, behavioural responses to human activities and effects on reproduction."

Analysis of sighting reports, which can be submitted via an app, is used to raise awareness of any issues and prompt environmental change to help conserve and protect animals, she added.

The reason is obvious: waves can easily swamp and damage solar panels.

But research and testing is under way to find ways of keeping solar panels intact and working in rough water.

Dutch-Norwegian company SolarDuck, for example, is working with German energy company RWE to build a floating solar plant at a North Sea wind farm.

The company says it will be the biggest offshore floating solar plant in the world, with the capacity to power a few hundred homes.

"My dad couldn't understand it," says Dr Thompson. "Then I showed him the underneath of the boat. He said, 'Well, it's a wing'."

Artemis brings together motorsports experts, aeronautical engineers, specialists in flight controls and physics modelling, as well as naval architects.

The Pioneer measures 11.5m and is well suited to transporting crew to and from offshore wind farms, says Dr Thompson.

"They have to push against the wind to get out to the farms and stay there while the crew disembark. It's a power- hungry manoeuvre."

"Valleys people are very proud and very protective over our communities," she said. "We have to weigh that up with looking at alternative energy resources for the future.

"We know of the problems with fossil fuels, so there has to be a compromise but we don't want to compromise our community so we need more information," she added.

Bute Energy said a survey would take place to avoid historic monuments.

Low Carbon UK has put forward plans for the 39-hectare Barnfield Solar Farm on Wilmingham Lane, near Yarmouth.

The operator said the land would also be used for sheep grazing, grassland or meadow planting over its 40-year operation.

Objections have been raised over traffic access and noise.

The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (Dart) was a controlled experiment that took place some 11 million km (7 million miles) from Earth.

It saw the refrigerator-sized Nasa satellite drive straight into 160m-wide (525ft) Dimorphos at 22,000km/h (14,000mph), destroying itself in the process.

The space rock orbits a much larger (780m wide; 2,550ft) object called Didymos. Before impact, the time taken for Dimorphos to make one circuit of its sibling was 11 hours and 55 minutes.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called nuclear fusion "intrinsically safe."

The conditions required to start and maintain a fusion reaction are so extreme that it is impossible for it to run out of control.

"Fusion is a self-limiting process: if you cannot control the reaction, the machine switches itself off," explained the IAEA's Sehila González de Vicente.

The lower level of radioative waste produced by the process compared with nuclear fission is also much easier to handle and store.
