Kalisz is one of the oldest cities in Poland, with historical roots as a major trading post on the Amber Route and a key settlement of the Piast dynasty. Located on the Prosna River in central Poland, it remains a significant cultural and administrative center in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The city was mentioned by the Greek geographer Ptolemy in the 2nd century AD as Kalisia, and it later served as an important capital for the Piast dukes.
