Angkor Temples, Cambodia
The unique temple complex of Angkor, located near Siem Reap in Cambodia, is one of Southeast Asia's most significant archaeological sites, offering insights into Khmer civilization and Buddhist history. From the 9th to the 16th century, this region was the heart of the Khmer Empire, where numerous temples were built, each showcasing a distinctive architectural style. Constructed from sandstone and laterite, the temples are known for their harmony and precision. Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, is the most popular attraction. Banteay Srei, often considered the most beautiful, is best admired at dawn when the rising sun bathes it in a golden glow. Other notable landmarks include Angkor Thom and Bayon, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
