IMVEPI REFUGEE SETTLEMENT HAS BLOWN US AWAY πŸ’š
A story of hope, hard work, and change

What we saw in Imvepi Refugee Settlement really touched our hearts. As Mustard Seed, leading this farming project with support from Streams of Hope International Partners Inc, we were inspired by the energy and commitment of the refugee community.

These amazing people are not sitting back waiting for help. They are ready and willing to work for a better future. They have shown us that refugees are strong, full of potential, and ready to grow if given the chance.

We had a training on how to plant sorghum, maize, and simsim. During planting, some farmers wanted to broadcast the seeds while others preferred planting in rows. This showed us that changing old ways takes time and care, but it is possible.

By the end of the day, we had planted 3 acres of sorghum with 61 hardworking farmers. What stood out most? They chose not to use a tractor. Not because they could not, but because they wanted to save that money to support their families. That kind of sacrifice is powerful and full of meaning. ❀️

The remaining 2 acres will be planted with maize and simsim.

Here is what we believe: πŸ‘‰ Refugees are not helpless. They just need access.
Access to land, good seeds, farm tools, and training can help them feed their families and live with dignity.

At Mustard Seed, we are thankful to walk with them on this journey of hope and transformation.

Refugees Rising to Take Hold of Their Food Security

Monday was a powerful reminder of why Mustard Seed exists.

Our team spent the day in the field, meeting with farmers, listening to their stories, and witnessing the strength that comes from resilience and community.

We visited the Hope Farm Project in Ochodri β€” a farm established to feed underprivileged children and raise school fees for their education. With 5 acres of cassava already planted, this initiative is already bringing life-changing impact to many, and we are honored to walk alongside it.

In Ocea, we checked on the ground nurseries supported by our women’s group. Their commitment is inspiring. When women are equipped with knowledge and tools, transformation happens β€” not just in their gardens, but in entire households.

Later, we held a key parents’ engagement meeting in Imvepi for an upcoming farming project. The group leaders came with focus and enthusiasm. We shared project expectations and boundaries. What encouraged us most was seeing refugees take full responsibility for their food security with hope and readiness.

The need is great β€” but so is the response. Refugees are rising, taking bold steps to build food-secure futures for their families. At Mustard Seed, we are blessed to serve during such a time, guiding communities into abundance and resilience.

PLANTING HOPE

This rainy season, Mustard Seed had the joy of supporting 25 farmers. These included widows, single mothers, widowers, and passionate farmers. We gave them cassava stalks, bean seeds, and simple training to help them grow food.

Our heart is to see every family with enough food and living a healthy life. These small efforts are a step closer to that dream.

We are truly thankful for the support and the kind hearts that made this possible. We are hopeful for a good harvest and the smiles it will bring to our farmers and their families.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are growing hope and changing lives.
