Realize and Fulfill
Efficacy answers the question: “Are we really helping the students we serve?” Sometimes the best answer is to make them do more on their own. Self-actualization starts when a person acknowledges what he or she needs to succeed and advance. Continuous assessments enhance one’s motivation to set goals, achieve them, and set bigger goals. In higher education, multiple assessments are needed to demonstrate a student’s effort and ability. A snapshot in time is not a true indicator of such; continuous, revolutionized assessment genuinely defines the person’s unique skills and preferences. Assessing the needs of a student-turning-professional is exactly what I have helped execute with families throughout the college aid journey. Assessment is not once and done; it should be served as a routine check-in point to help all strive to be better, accurate versions themselves. For the past 9 years, I have fully dedicated my time and energy in aiding the start and continued run of our family service advocacy group named CAPofPA-College Aid, a 503(c) nonprofit organization that prioritizes each student’s education at the academic, financial and career levels, along with helping students build their foundations for strong self-identities. The seemingly simple process of applying to college holds many requirements on test-taking ability, maintaining a long-term academic performance, and the unspoken expectation of exceeding more than what is on the college’s list to complete. Education continues to revolutionize itself as the students themselves change and evolve. The competition now is not only real but intense and focused on diversity. However, that does not negate the need to provide proper assessments juxtaposed with meaningful exchange with students so they can embark on a successful life of academia and beyond. My goal of counseling and coaching is to help people maximize their self-actualization and true potential and act on it in achieving their own specially designed goal - hence, efficacy.
