Government Fiat v. Market Forces. The market always wins in the end, but not before the government spends heavily to lose with taxpayer dollars.
Unintended consequences:
• Huge consumer inconvenience
• Untenable cost of conversion for gas stations, convenience stores and other facilities
• Significant losses of entry level service station and convenience store jobs
• Government (taxpayers) assuming the fueling industry role either by operation or funding (or both) from the private sector
• Electric battery raw materials are largely dependent on hostile or rival nations (China)
• Electric battery disposal and replacement cost are environmentally harmful and outrageously expensive
• Electric battery technology is no where near where it needs to be for northern climates where charging and retention of charge is impacted by extreme temperatures in winter. Michigan UP and Syracuse/Rochester/Buffalo, are you paying attention?
