Coffee Talk ☕ Where's Your Focus?

One of the biggest challenges I see with small business owners isn't a lack of ideas.

It's deciding what deserves their attention right now.

When everything feels important, it's easy to get stuck.

It's easy to spend time on things that feel productive while the work that would move the business forward gets pushed aside.

Sometimes progress comes from doing less, but doing the right things.

That's why I enjoy working with business owners as a guide and sounding board, helping them prioritize, stay accountable, and focus on the activities that support their goals.

Whether you're looking for ongoing marketing support or just need a little guidance, I'd love to help.

I currently have space for two new marketing clients. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to focus next, we can also start with one to three coaching sessions to help create clarity, prioritize your next steps, and build a plan you feel confident moving forward with.

What deserves your attention right now?

Coffee Talk ☕ The Cost of Every Opportunity

One thing I've learned from working with small business owners is that most people don't need more ideas. They need clarity around which idea deserves their attention right now.

Because every opportunity comes with a cost.

Every new project, commitment, or distraction takes time and energy away from something else.

Sometimes progress isn't about doing more. It's about choosing what matters most and giving it your full attention.

If you're feeling pulled in too many directions and need help finding your focus, let's talk. Sometimes one or two focused sessions can make all the difference.

What deserves your attention right now?

Coffee Talk ☕ Taking the First Step

A goal without action is just a wish.
The answers you're looking for won't come if you never ask.

And nothing changes when you keep standing in the same place.
Sometimes the breakthrough we're hoping for is waiting just beyond the moment we feel like giving up, turning around, or talking ourselves out of trying.

So here's your reminder to take the step.

Send the email.
Ask the question.
Apply for the opportunity.
Launch the thing.
Start before you feel ready.

Growth rarely happens standing still.

What a week it has been! This morning brought in a beautiful foggy rain settling over the mountains as we ease into the day.

We're in the home stretch on some major projects, but first, we're treating ourselves to something long overdue, our favorite donuts and coffee ☕🍩

It's a sweet reward for the hard work, the progress we've made, and the excitement of what's still to come.

I can't tell you how much lighter I feel after everything we accomplished this week. There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing the finish line come into view after a long stretch of focused effort.

Today feels like a moment to pause, celebrate the wins, and appreciate how far we've come before diving into the next chapter.

A little celebration, a lot of gratitude, and renewed excitement for what's next.

Happy Saturday, friends!

Coffee Talk ☕ Quiet Growth Still Counts

Can we normalize the fact that sometimes growth looks really unglamorous? 😄

Not every season looks like huge launches, packed schedules, or overnight success stories.

Sometimes growth looks like regrouping, simplifying, getting clearer, improving systems, learning to say no, and trying again with more wisdom than before.

A lot of meaningful progress happens quietly before anyone else sees the results.

Honestly, this is the season I’m in right now. Anyone else?

Coffee Talk ☕ How do you deal with uncertainty?

Honestly, I think a lot of people are navigating some level of it right now, in business, life, health, finances, relationships, or simply figuring out what comes next.

One thing I’ve learned is that uncertainty has a way of making people freeze, overthink, overconsume information, or feel like they need to have everything figured out before moving forward.

Please do your business a favor and don’t disappear during seasons like this.

Keep getting out there.
Post consistently.
Send the email.
Stay connected to your audience.
Keep showing up.

This is actually a crucial time to remain top of mind.

I don’t always get this perfectly right myself 😄 but I’ve found that focusing on the next right step usually helps more than trying to solve the entire future all at once! If you need help with this, let me know!

How do you handle seasons of uncertainty?

Coffee Talk ☕ on Substack, New Article:
Helping People Get Out of Their Own Way, Including Myself

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about change, letting go, identity, and what it really means to move forward, both personally and professionally.

This piece started as reflections about family, transition, and sorting through years of memories, but somewhere along the way, it became about something much bigger. The emotional weight of holding onto old versions of ourselves, the ways we get stuck, and why clarity often matters more than simply gathering more information.

I also share some honest thoughts about the parallels I see between life transitions and the work I do with small business owners who are trying to move forward, make decisions, and navigate uncertainty without getting buried under too much noise.

If you’ve been navigating change, uncertainty, growth, or trying to figure out what comes next, I think this one may resonate with you.

Would genuinely love to hear your thoughts after you read.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 ☕ 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘆 ≠ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰
Just because you’re doing a lot doesn’t automatically mean the right things are getting done.

I see this a lot with small business owners.

Posting because you know you “should.”
Trying a little bit of everything.
Jumping to ads before the basics are working.
Tinkering endlessly instead of launching.
Busy can feel productive.

Strategy asks better questions.

I help business owners get clear on what actually matters, create actionable next steps, and move forward instead of staying stuck in the same loop.

If this feels a little too familiar, let’s work together. Even a few focused coaching sessions can help you gain clarity, prioritize what matters, and walk away feeling much more focused and confident.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 ☕ 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave all in service to this country, and how fortunate we are that so many were willing to make that kind of sacrifice.

This day also holds personal meaning for me.

My father, a proud veteran, passed away on Memorial Day in 2017.

The exact date matters less to me than the symbolism of the day he left this earth.

I miss him deeply, just as I miss my mom, who left before him.

There’s something about reaching adulthood and eventually arriving at that place where your parents become not just parents, but dear friends, trusted sounding boards, and some of your favorite people to talk to. Losing that changes you.

Dad’s later years came with challenges, and Parkinson’s is a cruel disease. There were moments when patience came easier than others, and moments when I wish I had done better. But he knew he was deeply loved, and it remains one of the greatest honors of my life to have cared for him and given something back in those years.

Today, I’m thinking of him, of my mom, and of the families carrying both remembrance and loss.

And of course, with gratitude for those whose sacrifice is the reason this day exists.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 ☕ 𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about momentum, consistency, and what happens when we challenge ourselves in ways that reconnect us with who we are.

That reflection led me back to writing about my Asheville Half Marathon experience.

What started as a race became something much bigger, a reminder of discipline, resilience, and what becomes possible when we simply keep showing up.

One thing I hope people take away from this is that ordinary people really can do hard things.

I don’t think most people would look at me and immediately think “athlete,” and honestly, that’s kind of the point 😄

This journey wasn’t about proving something to anyone else.
It was about my health.
Setting a goal.
Working toward something that felt hard.

And discovering what can happen when you keep putting one foot in front of the other.

If you’ve ever worked toward something difficult, in business, health, or life, this one may resonate.
