My sister’s Facebook account has been taken over in a way that should concern everyone.
Someone gained access and then added their own authenticator, effectively locking her out of her own account — even though she can prove her identity.
We went through every official recovery step with Facebook, provided verification, and were ultimately told they’ve “exhausted their ability to help.” That’s unacceptable for a platform where people’s identities, businesses, and memories live.
This isn’t just about one account — it’s about a system that allows bad actors to take control and leaves real users without meaningful support.
If anyone at Meta can actually help resolve this, we’re asking for real assistance.
And to everyone else — if you’re using Facebook, please double-check your security settings. What happened here is not obvious, and it’s not rare.
