Like John Lewis always reminds us, we have to speak up for what's right. We couldn't be more proud of our hometown hero. His quote on the mural we were honored to paint reads: "I appeal to all of you to get into this great revolution that is sweeping the nation. Get in and stay in the streets of every city, every village and hamlet of this nation until true freedom comes, until the revolution of 1776 is complete." Do we know any designers/illustrators from the Peachtree City area? We'll be looking for artists from certain areas over the next few months who are interested in designing murals for Kroger. We at The Loss Prevention Arts will paint the murals. The designs will reflect the local community and might require food or culinary related imagery. At today's mural dedication and press event, people stood in line to speak about how Evelyn Lowery changed their lives. Her husband, Joseph Lowery, gave a moving and emotional speech about her accomplishments and how he misses her every day. This was a challenging mural to get clearance for - a lot of red tape. Seeing the pride is her family's faces made it all worth it. Thanks to the City of Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs and to Kwanza Hall for your support.
