Today has been one of those days. You know, the days that drive you absolutely nuts with unexpected things you don't have time to deal with. My car broke down today, and I had to have it towed and got a hefty bill to have it fixed. 😣 I don't remember the last time something like that happened to me - but it inevitably will sooner or later. As I sat there thinking about how crappy this day had become, I decided that I'd just turn it around. Because you know what? It could always be worse. ALWAYS. So while I'm irritated at what happened today, I'm deciding to CHOOSE JOY instead. And I will tomorrow. And the following days. This world is ugly and scary right now - and we all need a bit of reassurance that everything is going to be ok.
I just happened to come across Kay Warren's book "Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn't Enough" this morning out of nowhere. I calI these types of things "God Winks". I then came across her translation of Philippians 2:14-15 in the book and it struck me as the perfect thing we all need to hear today with the mess going on in this country:
"Do everything readily and cheerfully - no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night."
My friends - if that isn't perfect, I don't know what is. Choose Joy - no matter how hard it is.
