It’s been a week since I started digging into SPFx and all of its glory and here’s a status report on what I’ve done.
1. Created the client environment on a win 10 laptop
2. Installed Node, yo, gulp, bower, vsCode and tested them all
3. Installed /generator-sharepoint
4. Downloaded several sample videos showing how to create a Helloworld webpart.
5. Created several version of the Helloworld web part and tested on both the localhost workbench and sharepoint developer site successfully.
6. I followed the tutorial on creating a jQuery/jQuery UI accordion web part and I came out beautifully
7. Finally I took a classic responsive html/scss/css legacy code and ported it to a modern web part and it also worked beautifully.
8. When I started the SPFx was at Drop 6 and on the 9th of January, 2017 it went to RC0 level
9. I started from scratch with RC0.
10. Due to changes on the RC0 bits, the sample web part now fails to compile the TS code and I submitted an issue on Saturday asking for help. This is the code that is failing:

See the pictures of the actual code below.

So far I like what I see except for the DOCS, they are too fragmented and the examples are not complete or don’t work at all or have missing steps or steps which are not explained at all.
When watching the videos, the instructors assume, wrongly, that everybody understand the topics they are presenting and skip major explanation or reasons why they do what they do leaving a big gap in their explanations. I had in several occasions submitted an issue only to be told to go to stackoverflow where you end up getting advice from arrogant idiots giving you advice on how to submit a question but not providing even the remotest hint of an answer.
The responses from the SPFx team has been superb and it shows they care for their product and it’s coming along rather nicely. The same can’t be said of the office/dev-JavaScript folks as they seem not to like answering question about their products.
All in all, I’m very happy with my progress and will start on the next step with SPFx which is to dig into react/angular and jQuery full blast in the next couple of weeks.

I was hopping the new Yarn npm replacement would work with windows but alas it's another open source component created for apple's software environment and not compatible with the windows echo systems. SHAME!
