A couple weeks ago I had the honor to be on The Design Business Show podcast.

I met Melissa when I was trying to figure out how to start my business. I had worked for others, in a boutique agency and then in publishing, but as we all know working for others is quite different from taking off on your own.

In all transparency, it’s still an evolution. How do I best help? What can I offer to make the most impact for my clients?

But since I do have quite a bit of experience working in the industry and since her audience has a lot of designers starting out, hopefully my story helped them as they are branching out in their careers.

I have coined this year as my year of visibility.

A year and a half ago when Melissa asked me to be on her podcast, I laughed! But of course, it’s time.

I know a lot about Creative Direction and the strategy needed behind it.

And I know how Branding and Marketing Design - working together - can gain businesses the type of traction they needs to grow.

Think about this… If it works for the big brands, it will work for YOU.

It’s time for us to take our seat at the table, I’m here to help you.

I have figured a lot of things out since I first met Melissa but I’m not quite sure if putting yourself out there ever gets easier? I doubt I’m alone in this so if you have any tips I’d love to hear them!

Hi, How are you?

My plan this week originally was to post about something different but as the weekend went on, aAnd Monday rolled around, I felt the need to say something else.

Since Friday and the overturn of Roe v. Wade, I have been sad — so sad. For those of you not in the United States (that seems ridiculous to say at this point, since we are in no way United) bear with me through this post because it is relevant for you too.

As an introvert through and through I get quiet & still to process, and this is a lot to process, hence it being Tuesday. I tend to go to nature to heal and listen to the voice deep within me to feel what the next step is. Somewhere between hearing the wind rustling the trees, feeling the sun on my face, along with my yoga and meditation practices I am usually able to reach out again.

And as of today I am feeling this more than ever. As women — we need to have more influence in this world. We need our voices more in this world. Our voice matters.

It is time we take our seat at the table. It is time that the table includes ALL voices. I believe, women, are the key to making that happen.

That business that you have started, that is another key.

The world NEEDS female-run businesses.

The world NEEDS female leadership.

The world NEEDS female wealth.

Your voice and your business MATTERS. You can make a difference. There are customers out there that need what you have to offer. This is your reminder!

For me, I am currently pulling together new offers and creating educational posts on why and how Brand & Marketing Design — working together — is important and how it can help you grow your business more easily.

With the profits you make YOU get to decide, who and what to support.

We are here to lift each other up. We are in this together. And as we grow, so will our voices.

So it’s been a minute…

The question of how/when to start posting again when you have taken QUITE a hiatus? Seriously, where does the time go? (Ummm - yeah - running a business, client work, children that need to be taken care of - who’s supposed to figure out the logistics of school/sports/dinners/carpools?? oh right! That would be me ;) We all know the pressure is real. However! What that means is I have lots of projects to share from the past months. Branding and marketing work that I’m so excited to have been a part of.

I’ve been behind the scenes designing for some amazing women entrepreneurs that are bringing important ideas and information into this world. I love being a part of guiding them in communicating their unique geniuses, because I can tell you, I feel like we all need it.

📖 I love to design a good author quote especially one full of inspiration. ✨

I love this quote because it reminds me that I get to decide, I get to choose, I write the story I want to create. And I love that. I believe that.

I think it’s fascinating that circumstances can seem to be taking us off track, even sometimes WAY off track, many times end up being the road that leads us to exactly where we want to be.

It’s happened in my lifetime time and time again and I bet you it’s happened in yours.

The Beautiful No is the story of how Sheri Salata got her dream job at the Oprah Winfrey Show where she eventually became Executive Producer and the Co-President of the OWN Network. Yeah. No big deal.

Here’s why it resonated... because she does not start out anywhere near there. In fact, her experience before the Oprah Show is very much like many of ours. Taking steps many of us have taken.

Since she has left the OWN Network, she has re-envisioned her life all over again.

Transformation is a powerful thing.

To my own amazement, I recently got to do a project for Sheri Salata. I was so honored to be a small part of supporting all the people moving into their own transformations and creating their own new stories. I’ll post it soon ✨

Here’s to writing our own stories, transformation and the fun and joy of it all!
