Technology was supposed to make our lives easier. Unfortunately, in many ways because of the loose way the internet and cell phone services are run, it has made all of us more vulnerable to attacks and just plain irritation. One of the latest attacks are recaptcha scams and they are something everyone should be aware of and watch for.

Just finished designing a website for newest client. Although I've downsized and am semi-retired now, will still do work for a few new organizations. This group was great to work with and I'll continue to monitor their public presence and help out where I can. They are a nonprofit with a huge job ahead and if you have some extra funds you can help by making a tax-deductible donation.

So you start a business or form an organization and pay someone to do a website for you.
What is the most important thing about your website?
Submitting SEO? NO
Having it Stand Out from the Crowd? NO
Having it Say What You Do? NO
Having Links to other sites and pages on your site? NO
Don't get me wrong, ALL of the above is important - but the Most Important thing about your website is having your HOME Page Up-to-Date with information directed to the audience you want to reach so that it works for you.
Often that is the only page visitors are going to see and if it looks like one of the other thousands of canned "professional" sites that don't really speak to the desired audience or has outdated information visitors will most likely move on.
We offer long-term maintenance and monitor all websites we design and notify you if your HOME page needs updating - this is a service that we provide and is included in our annual maintenance service.

Anyone visiting social media nowadays has been hit with information about "Artificial Intelligence." In fact, if you do searches in google or other search engines, you may have already made use of it. It's been presented as "new," and "exciting," and capable of replacing almost all of us. However, AI has been around for over 40 years. The db company I worked for back in the 80's developed and sold an AI product that was used by many. It wasn't the same thing we're seeing today in that it was marketed to governments and large companies for serious business use and monitoring. The product we're seeing today is as much a "toy" as it is as useful tool, so use it, but don't trust it for anything really important. If it's important, always go to the original source of the information you're seeking. It may be more work, but it's just about guaranteed to be less headache.

This is exactly why my computer system will never be on Microsoft office 365 or any other forced "cloud" system for program I need to run my business and our farm. If it isn't a program I can use off line, I'm only using it if absolutely necessary. My work was not interrupted at all by this event.

"A faulty software update by global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike—used by over half of Fortune 500 companies—caused a worldwide outage yesterday, disrupting airlines, government services, hospital systems, and other businesses. A defect in the update crashed Microsoft's Windows, triggering its infamous "blue screen of death" for users relying on the operating system."
