If you’ve never had coffee from Fig Tree Market , head on down to downtown Ellettsville and try some.

I think I’d embarrass myself trying to give a good description of how it tastes, so just trust me that it’s good. 🙂

Coffee is served in these glass jars, which is great for so many reasons, and you get a discount if you bring in your cup!

Another fun Jasper Strassenfest in the books. This photo (of my cute niece performing on the Glockenspiel) was Thursday, when the weather was a bit better.

If you grew up in Jasper, the Strassenfest always signaled the end of summer and school getting ready to start. The weather is still hot outside, but somehow it feels like a change of season.

I hope everyone is enjoying what remains of summer, and here’s to a great second half of 2026.

A great time was had yesterday at the Ellettsville Chamber Picnic in the Park—organized by Dan Rarey Real Estate and Donna Niese State Farm.

Also, I’m never lucky when it comes to door prizes, but somehow, I lucked out yesterday and won a portable wet/dry vac! I love a clean car, so there truly could not have been a better prize. (I already used it today, and I’m happy to report it has good suction. Haha)

Happy 250th, America. Currently out in Colorado, and there’s nothing like a trip out west to remind you just how vast and beautiful our country is.

I’ve talked about this before, but having lived and traveled in developing countries, one of the biggest differences between the United States and those places is our privilege of opportunity. That, if you’ve got a little motivation, there’s a job available for you. It may not be anything glamorous or high-paying at first, but it’s an opportunity, allowing us to fulfill that human desire to better ourselves, our families, our communities. That privilege of opportunity is not at all the case in many parts of the world.

I am tremendously grateful to be an American. 🇺🇸 Enjoy your celebrations, everyone!

Thanks, Sinful Sweets for the fun scavenger hunt yesterday! I casually mentioned the post to my kids when I saw it, and they were so excited to see if they could win, they jumped on their bikes and rode down to The Caffeinated Cook to find the gift card (and, of course, got cookies while they were at it). Looking forward to some treats this weekend! :)
