Where do you begin when you're introducing a toddler to the Bible?

It's a question I've spent a lot of time thinking about while creating our curriculum.

There are so many incredible stories throughout Scripture that it's tempting to jump right into Noah, David, Daniel, or the miracles of Jesus.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized there is only one place to begin:

**The beginning.**

As adults, we often assume children already understand that God created the world. But toddlers don't assume anything because they haven't had time to build those assumptions yet.

We're teaching the things that go without saying...from scratch.

Before children can understand redemption, they need to understand creation.

Before they can understand that God has a plan for their lives, they need to know there is a God who created life in the first place.

That's why our new **God Made Everything** curriculum begins with one simple but powerful truth:

💡 **God made light.**

It may seem like a simple lesson, but every strong foundation begins with a single brick. Through Bible storytelling, songs, crafts, movement, and hands-on activities, toddlers begin discovering that the world around them didn't simply happen—it was intentionally created by a loving God.

Sometimes the simplest truths become the strongest foundations.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where time just seems to disappear?

The to-do list keeps growing.

The phone calls go unanswered.

The work piles up.

You keep telling yourself, "Tomorrow I'll catch up."

Only tomorrow looks a lot like today.

This week, I found myself asking a difficult question:

Why is time slipping through my fingers so quickly?

The more I thought about it, the more I realized my problem wasn't just being busy.

It was deeper than that.

Somewhere along the way, many of us have accepted the idea that strength means carrying everything ourselves.

We measure success by productivity.

We wear busyness like a badge of honor.

We feel guilty for slowing down.

We quietly convince ourselves that if we're struggling, we simply aren't trying hard enough.

But that's not the picture Scripture paints.

God never called us to be self-sufficient.

He called us to depend on Him.

Maybe that's why Jesus never invited the weary to become more productive.

He invited them to come to Him.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like you're barely holding everything together, I hope this week's blog encourages you.

You're not alone.

And you were never meant to carry it all by yourself.

One of the things I love most about teaching toddlers is watching them discover who they are.

It doesn't happen all at once.

One week they're fascinated by what their hands can do.

The next week they're running everywhere on the feet God gave them.

Soon they're pointing to their eyes, covering their ears, and noticing all the wonderful ways they experience the world around them.

At first, it looks like we're simply teaching children about body parts.

But that's never been the goal.

The goal is helping them discover something much bigger:

God made them.

As we wrap up our God Made Me curriculum, we take everything children have learned throughout the month and bring it together into one simple truth:

❤️ Thank You, God, for making me.

Sometimes we feel like every lesson has to introduce something new. But some of the most meaningful growth happens when we slow down and help children connect what they've already learned.

Hands.

Feet.

Eyes.

Ears.

Every part of them is a gift from a loving Creator.

And perhaps the greatest truth they can learn is that the God who made them also loves them.

One of my favorite things about toddlers is how excited they get about things most adults barely notice.

A bird outside the window.

A flower growing beside the sidewalk.

A song playing in the background.

A familiar voice calling their name.

They notice everything.

This week in our God Made Me curriculum, we're teaching a simple but powerful truth:

👀 God made my eyes.

👂 God made my ears.

Our focus verse is Proverbs 20:12:

"The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both."

Sometimes the simplest truths become the strongest foundations.

When children learn that God made their eyes to see and their ears to hear, they're learning something much bigger than body parts. They're beginning to understand that God created them intentionally and that every part of them matters to Him.

Through stories, songs, crafts, movement, and hands-on activities, this lesson helps toddlers connect the world around them to the God who lovingly created them.

Social media has convinced many of us that everyone else's life is cleaner, more organized, and more put together than our own.

Their homes look spotless.

Their families look happy.

Their schedules seem perfectly balanced.

Meanwhile, we're staring at laundry that needs folded, dishes in the sink, and a to-do list that keeps getting longer.

The problem is that we're comparing our everyday reality to someone else's carefully selected highlight reel.

And if we're not careful, we can begin chasing something that doesn't actually exist:

The perfect life.

But what if perfection was never the goal?

What if the goal was faithfulness?

What if the goal was a God-centered life instead of a perfect-looking one?

A perfectly clean home cannot replace a loving home.

A perfectly organized schedule cannot replace time spent with God.

A perfectly curated life cannot replace a life surrendered to Christ.

God isn't asking us to be perfect.

He's asking us to be faithful.

That kind of life may not always look impressive on social media.

But it will matter for eternity.

Have you ever spent hours planning a lesson only to realize your children needed something completely different?

That's one of the challenges—and joys—of children's ministry.

Curriculum planning isn't something you do once and forget about. Children grow. Their needs change. Their understanding deepens. Sometimes we discover important truths we assumed they already knew. Other times we realize a lesson that looked perfect on paper isn't connecting the way we hoped.

The goal isn't creating a perfect curriculum.

The goal is faithfully helping children know God, one lesson at a time.

Most Christians think stewardship is about money.
