I put off investing in my product photo business by getting a relatively expensive photography light for almost 2 years... knowing it would take my product photography to the next level and help me contract solid work. Here I am finally achieving the look I want with my work and so excited about this next chapter in growing my biz. I did one test session with me new light and I cannot wait to keep improving the look and feel of my craft! If you believe in yourself, don't be afraid to invest in yourself.

3 Tips for Perfect iPhone 📱 Product Photos:

Taking photos with your iPhone for your content can be tricky or terrific. Here are a few tricks you should know…

☀️Natural Light - Avoid using mixed indoor lighting as much as possible (meaning different bulbs be brightnesses). Photos with an unwanted tint or that are too dark make products seem less trustworthy. Consumers are more likely to buy a product that is captured in bright detail. So find a spot near a window on a sunny day and click away!

🌫️ Clean Lens - You’d be surprised how many times I see photos and videos posted to social media and think “Did they not clean their camera lens?” most of us forget but this is CRUCIAL to having quality photos.

🔅 Check Exposure - Tap on the brightest area of your scene so the camera can adjust to that area. Then edit your image by lifting the shadows. If you lighten the overall brightness the highlights will lift, so manually turn those down also for an even photo.

Sunday Mornings… you’ll find me editing a gallery for a client, finishing up laundry for the week, tip-toeing around the mess of toys my boys leave everywhere, and I wouldn’t change a thing!

I wanted to take a moment to share what I love about this photo… recently a lot of my clients are finding me by word of mouth and they want to work with me because I’m a professing Christian who loves Jesus 🙏🏻

I’m totally cool with that! Sometimes you want to work with a photographer who understands your faith, the direction of your life, your values, and I’m so honored that entrepreneurial Christians seek me out to do their sessions.

This session with my client Angela was great. We listened to worship music, sang to “Jireh” and got to share our values in conversation.

Welcome to Covered in Scarlet Photography! My name is Jaclyn Michelle and I have been doing photography for almost a decade. My mission is to provide magazine-worthy images that preserve life’s most beautiful, sacred, and priceless moments. I use the term “magazine-worthy” to signify that I treat photography as a Fine Art in order to capture the inherent beauty inside every single person I work with. I believe that it is also imperative to record the story behind the images and in doing this I hope to create heirlooms and keepsakes for families to pass down to future generations.

I deeply believe that life is too short not to have quality photographs. As we all know, moments cannot be relived except by memory through images. Though time may be short I believe it can be frozen in pictures and I want to preserve those moments in all their beauty.
