Still glowing from BSCP’s ✨ Evening of Hope ✨ — a night that reminded me exactly why I do what I do.

Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP) changes lives. For more than 30 years, they’ve built pathways for students and professionals from historically excluded backgrounds to thrive in the biomedical sciences — shaping a future that’s more innovative, more brilliant, and more just.

This year, Anthem Multimedia had the privilege (for the second year running) of creating BSCP’s brand story film — their “why,” their call to action — which premiered at the gala. The goal was to remind the audience of BSCP’s extraordinary reach and impact, and to move hearts enough to open wallets. It worked. The room overflowed with generosity.

I had the honor of hearing Julie Kim, incoming CEO of Takeda, deliver a keynote on representation and hope. She even quoted our film (!), and managed to weave in a K-pop demon hunter reference that totally won the crowd.

So much gratitude to Hollie DeSilva and the whole BSCP family — and to every student whose passion and brilliance light up the room. You are the future of science. (hi !)

Do you wonder what it’s like to be interviewed by the team at Anthem Multimedia?

I couldn’t say exactly, but I can tell you what it’s like from our end.

First, your interview begins weeks before we even meet. If there’s information about you in the public sphere, I’ve already found it. (Hey, you can take the filmmaker out of journalism, but you can’t take journalism out of the filmmaker).

We’ve been brainstorming about how to best tell your story, given what we know and the narrative goals of the project. Your question set is pages long, divided into categories, and obsessively edited, ordered and re-ordered. We want to make the most of our time with you.

You arrive on set and see orderly commotion and piles of lights, stands, wires, and cameras (we affectionately call all of this “gak”). Maybe we take you first to hair and makeup (the brilliant Rosie stands ever-ready with a puff and a gloss), audio-master Adam outfits you with a microphone, and sooner or later you find yourself in The Chair.

(Not that chair - we’re nice.)

It’s bright up there in the chair, but not hot anymore since we use LED lights now. We fuss and adjust until everything is Dylan Perfect (which is an extreme version of ‘perfect’), and then it’s time. We get to chat.

This is my favorite part, and will be yours too, I hope. My first order of business is to get you out of your head and into the moment - to make you forget about all the lights and cameras and mirrors and wires and people. We plan for it to be clunky at first, which is why I will ask you easy “in the now” questions. Like, “tell me about your life today.”

We keep rolling through because we’re on a journey. My goal is to create a space that’s responsive and sensitive enough to draw out the pictures in your mind clearly and beautifully. To help you get to words that articulate your perspectives in the best possible way – and to capture it when you do, in 6K.

It’s at once complicated and supremely simple. Movie magic and production tumult silenced by connection and listening.

And then, we’re done! Well, you’re done. Next up is post-production and that is another extraordinary chapter entirely.

So what is it like to be interviewed by us? Can’t tell you precisely, but I certainly hope you find out.

Just back from filming in Zuni, New Mexico for a story about the extraordinary Dominique Pablito. High fives to my chief creative partner Dylan Trivette (and ace cinematographer) for beautifully capturing all that Dominique and her family so generously shared with us. Such a special time, I almost have no words. Now on to the edit . . .

I'm excited to share this video we at Anthem Multimedia created for our amazing client, Charles River Labs, about their sustainability initiatives. What's extra special is that we worked with the extraordinary Stu Sufrin of https://sufrin.tv/ to bring this thing to life.

So excited to finally share a fun summary view of the projection campaign we created for the 2022 awards held last week in Boston. We at Anthem Multimedia worked with The Earthshot Prize team in the UK and our amazing collaborators here in Boston to fill meaningful public spaces with messages of urgent optimism. Biggest perk of the job? Mobilizing all our professional and creative talents to highlight what we hold most dear: our fragile, irreplaceable, singular planet.
A million thank you's to the gracious and helpful , technical expert Jeff Grantz, drone artist Aram Boghosian, always-amazing cinematographer Nick Kolinsky, mountain-moving Kate Davis (Director of Boston's office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment), animation genius Stu Sufrin, Tricia and Bronwynne at Earthshot, Valerie Linson at the JFK Library . . . I could go on. (And because he won't tell you himself, our very own Erik Jacobs for being the vision and heart of this production).
Added bonus: we got to attend the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony and get super fancy dressed up and see the royals.

We're thrilled to share this truly multimedia, multidimensional campaign we created for Emerson College last spring to celebrate the graduating class of 2021. This project spans high-key soundstage filming, use of 10 roof-mounted cinema projectors, drones, a ground camera crew, animation and motion graphics, and just plain ol' storytelling. It was a thrill to bring into being, from concept through ex*****on, and we're grateful for creative clients who are willing to take visual and narrative risks - to great effect!

We created this lyrical short film in response to an ask from an institution beloved and meaningful in our lives: The Farm School, which is a 400-acre teaching farm in western Massachusetts. They needed a way to communicate to their donors and wider community all that had transpired within the Farm School during a 16-month deep pause, during which time they took on racial equity and liberation work head-on. They emerged a changed organization, refocused and deepened in their mission to Connect People To The Land.

Our goal was to present this deeply felt story of an institution, comprised of individuals committed to the process of evolution, and of doing better, always, in the face of new awareness. Our tools were poetry, bold and clear imagery, an evocative and original score intertwined with the visuals, rich sound design, and heartfelt interviews.

The Farm School, a teaching farm in western Massachusetts created around a concept of connecting people to land with kindness and integrity, asks deep and hard questions about race and justice that do not have easy answers. They took a year-long pause to seek their own blind spots and open their arms a little wider to work that is never finished.
