Most mountain weekends I spend rushing from destination to destination trying to cram in as much as possible. This past Memorial Day Weekend I was able to actually sit by the river and enjoy some good quality reels time.

19 miles, 9,000 feet of elevation, and just over 11 hours across the Presidential Range.

The weather made this one a lot tougher than expected and definitely not as rewarding as expected, but the clouds finally broke towards the end and gave us a decent view.

Pretty wild that we started the summer with the Pemi Loop and got to end it with the Presidential Traverse. Grateful for another big day in the Whites with John Jantz .

Another big one with John Jantz . The weather was absolutely brutal and the views were somehow even worse. We spent the whole day walking through clouds and getting rained on.

It’s pretty amazing to look back and realize I got to do the Presidential Traverse, Pemi Loop, and Mount Whitney all within a couple months. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the time, health, and people around me to make all three happen. Definitely a summer I won’t forget.

Missing ski season right now. Ischg Austria feels like a lifetime away from New England but it’s one of the best places I’ve ever skied. The après ski culture is unmatched.

One of the easiest places to catch a sunset near Lone Pine. The Alabama Hills are packed with granite formations, movie history, and views of the Sierra Nevada, all just steps from the road.

First mountain race in the books!

I had an absolute blast running the Loon Mountain Race this weekend. This race has been a staple of mountain running in the Northeast for decades and is known as one of the toughest uphill races around. At 6.1 miles with roughly 3,000 feet of elevation gain, there’s really nowhere to hide. It’s basically a sustained climb from the base of Loon Mountain to the summit with a few cross country miles mixed in.

As someone who’s spent plenty of time hiking in the Whites but never pinned on a bib for a mountain race, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The pace, the climbing, and the competition were all on another level. It definitely humbled me, but I’m really happy with how I ran for my first attempt. It won’t be my last.

Celebrating with a cold b**r from 𝐌𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 & 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨. might’ve been the best post-race reward I’ve had. After spending an hour climbing straight up a mountain, that b**r absolutely hit the spot. Easily one of the best ways to end a race weekend.

First mountain race in the books!

I had an absolute blast running the Loon Mountain Race this weekend. The course is no joke, coming in at 6.1 miles with 3000 feet of elevation gain.

I Started the weekend with a shakeout run hosted by Arc’teryx New York Nicole Fischetti Madison Collins followed by with some unreal b**rs from 𝐌𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 & 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨.

Considering it was my first mountain race, I’m pretty happy with how it went. Plenty to learn, but definitely won’t be my last.

Highlight of the weekend was watching John Jantz absolutely rip it and finish 4th.

One of the more unexpected hikes from my California trip. Just over 9 miles with around 1,500 feet of elevation gain, but somehow I saw horses, fighter jets flying through the mountains, a fully naked hiker, and a beautiful alpine lake all in one afternoon.
