There is a quiet wisdom in the places we usually walk right past if we aren't paying attention.

Down in the creek bed, the only sound was water spilling across worn stone; a continuous, patient rhythm that has been turning edge into curve long before any of us were here.

We live in a world that demands constant output, constant blooming, and constant noise. But if you sit by moving water long enough, you realize that nature operates on an entirely different clock.

The trees do not hurry their growth. The clouds do not apologize when they grow too heavy and release their rain. The stars do not fight the dark; they depend on it.

If you’re carrying a heavy weight today, or if you feel like you’re moving too slowly compared to everyone else, let this be your permission to breathe.

You are allowed to rest.

You are allowed to change direction.

You are allowed to take your time.

It’s easy to believe that the storm is the problem.

But sometimes, the storm is the only thing powerful enough to wash away everything fake. If you are in the middle of a hard season right now, don't rush the process.

Let it reveal what's real.

Let it build your strength.

Who else has walked out of a storm completely changed?

There is an old, forgotten fence post out on the edge of the county that I pass by often. It’s been battered by decades of Kentucky wind and rain, stripped of its paint, and worn down to the raw grain. It is infinitely stronger and more beautiful now than it was when it was newly cut.

I was reminded of that when listening to this audio. We spend so much energy trying to avoid the storms: the heartbreaks, the betrayals, the days that bring us to our knees.

We think the breaking is a punishment. But maybe the breaking is just the deep plowing of the field before the harvest.

Maybe we have to lose all the fragile, superficial things to find the unbreakable things underneath.

Has a season of deep hardship ever unexpectedly prepared you for a heavier, more meaningful chapter in your life?

I would love for you to share your story in the comments below. Let's remember we aren't weathering the storm alone.
