💔 After more than 50 incredible years serving the people of Transylvania County and beyond, Pisgah Fish Camp is closing its doors.

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg once described the importance of a "third place" — a spot outside of home and work where people come together, connect, laugh, share meals, and build memories. For generations, Pisgah Fish Camp was exactly that for so many of us.

From its comforting seafood plates to the familiar faces and warm hospitality, this beloved spot in Pisgah Forest became woven into the very fabric of our community. But after facing family health challenges and devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene just six months ago, Dana, Jeanne, and Mike Hawkins made the deeply difficult decision to close the restaurant.

While the building itself may still have an uncertain future, the memories and community built within those walls will live on in the hearts of all who ever sat around a table there.

Thank you, Pisgah Fish Camp, for over five decades of love, meals, and memories. You will always be a treasured part of Transylvania County’s story. 🐟❤️

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined the term “third place” to describe a physical space outside of home and work where people can gather, connect and happily engage in informal public life.
