When we think back on the journey of filming the GROW documentary, what stands out most are the moments of connection and hope. We saw and felt the impact of resilience education in so many ways:

• Hearing young people share their dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, actors, and scientists

• Watching joy unfold in classrooms as teachers and students explored character strengths together through song and prayer

• Partnering with Pythias, a dedicated Zambian educator, who joined our team as a story producer and advisor to ensure ethical storytelling practices

• Teaching Josephine how to use the camera and witnessing her curiosity about filmmaking grow

• Smiling as the GROW leaders lifted their • voices in song, a performance that now closes the film.

• Each of these memories reminds us why this work matters and how much potential lies within these young voices.

We had the incredible opportunity to spend 10 days in Lusaka, Zambia, partnering with the GROW Global Resilience Oral Workshops.

Our team was on the ground to photograph their resilience and recovery programs for children and adults, while also conducting research and scouting for a future documentary.

GROW’s vision is a world in which children and adults everywhere have the spiritual and emotional tools they need to build strong character and a life of resilience.

Resilience is a learnable skill—the ability to bounce back from trauma and stay strong through adversity. We are so grateful to have witnessed this firsthand and look forward to sharing more about this experience.

The One America Movement brought communities of faith together for a three-day event centered on dialogue, connection, and hope.

What stood out most was the way participants described the impact of being in the same room. (Part 1 of 2)

(Part 2) It was not about changing the world in one day, but about the small and powerful ways we come to see and understand one another.

That kind of transformation is deeply human, and it is what makes gatherings like this so meaningful.

KIN was honored to be there to help share this story. Watch the full video.

What does healing look like in a divided world?

We partnered with One America Movement on their Faith Over Division tour to help tell the story of connection across religious, political, and racial divides.

One of the most moving voices on the tour was inspirational speaker and former pro athlete Chris Singleton. His journey of healing and forgiveness has led him to a place of powerful, unifying leadership. His story continues to challenge and inspire us to be bridge builders.

This is the story of Rodney.

Rodney once faced the harsh realities of being unhoused, struggling to meet his critical needs for shelter, food, and employment. His journey took a transformative turn in 2017 when he was connected to All Angels’ Church (AAC), a Hope for New York affiliate.

Through AAC, Rodney rediscovered a sense of hope and purpose for his future. Eventually, he found employment at All Angels’ Church, which enabled him to secure stable housing and pave a new path forward. Today, Rodney is a vital member of the AAC community and is dedicated to giving back to those who have walked in his shoes.

We hope Rodney’s resilience inspires you.

Hope For New York (HFNY) supports New Yorkers in need by partnering with non-profit organizations serving vulnerable and under-resourced communities throughout the city.

HFNY strengthens its affiliates in four key ways: through grantmaking, mobilizing volunteers, capacity building, and collaborative network opportunities.

As a long-term client, HFNY has entrusted us with sharing the stories of many of its nonprofit affiliates, who work tirelessly to meet the critical needs of New Yorkers across the five boroughs. These include The Father’s Heart, City Relief, and Graffiti, which are featured in this video.
