Rebel for a Cause: John Lewis
Civil rights icon. Moral compass. Relentless advocate for justice.

As we approach the anniversary of his passing on July 17, we honor the legacy of Representative John Lewis, a man whose life’s work reminds us that true change is often born from discomfort, courage, and the willingness to cause good trouble.

From marching in Selma to leading in Congress, Lewis never wavered in his belief that “the vote is precious” and that our democracy is strongest when all voices are heard. His activism wasn’t just about resistance, it was about vision: a future rooted in dignity, fairness, and opportunity.

He fought for the soul of this nation, and challenged us to do the same.

May his legacy be a reminder that we inherit not just the rights secured by others, but the responsibility to keep pushing them forward.

Happy Fourth from Good Rebellion 🇺🇸

Independence Day is a celebration of freedom, but also a reminder: the work of shaping a more just, inclusive, and united country is still ongoing.

We honor the boldness of the original rebellion, and recommit to building something better, together.

🏳️‍🌈 Progress Under Pressure isn’t just a theme: it’s a reality.

As Pride Month wraps, we’re reflecting on an unforgettable evening at the SUNY Global Center: our 5th Annual Pride Panel, hosted in partnership with SUNY, East Midtown Partnership, and NGLCC New York.

The panel brought together leaders across government, business, and higher ed to ask a bold question: Can we still deliver on the American Dream for everyone?

✨ From hard truths to hopeful visions, one message rang clear: Pride isn’t a moment. It’s a movement. And we all have a role to play.

📖 Read our full blog to revisit the conversation, the insights, and the urgent work ahead. https://www.goodrebellion.com/good-thinkin/civil-discourse?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=bit.ly&utm_content=ap_qs7kqekizl

🌈 Pride is more than a party - It's a call to action.

At our Annual Pride Panel in NYC, we asked a bold question: Can we still deliver on the American Dream for LGBTQ+ people, especially when progress feels under attack?

From the importance of visibility to the power of community, our panelists made one thing clear: we’re not just a minority, we’re a movement.

Our CEO, David Belsky, moderated an unforgettable conversation about resistance, joy, and what comes after Pride Month, alongside Mairead Jones-Kennelly, Xiomara Giordano, Rob Byrnes, H.H. Prince deAndre Duke of Hanumanteshwar, and Priya Nair.

📢 The full blog recap drops next week — and trust us, you’ll want to read it.

Until then, remember:
🌟 Show up.
🌟 Speak out.
🌟 Keep rebelling — for good.

🌟✨ That’s a wrap on SUNYCUAD 2025✨🌟

Good Rebellion was proud to be a sponsor of this year’s conference, connecting with some of the most passionate and innovative minds in communications across SUNY - The State University of New York system. From strategy chats to spontaneous hallway brainstorms, every moment was a reminder of why this work matters.

A special shoutout to our Founder & CEO, David Belsky, who led the breakout session “Land of Confusion.” His session offered 10 actionable ways colleges and universities can reframe equity, not just as a moral imperative, but as a vital economic opportunity. 🧠💥

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to connect, share ideas, or just say hi. We’re leaving SUNYCUAD reenergized and ready to keep helping campuses craft bold, purpose-driven communications that meet this moment.

Last week, the Good Rebellion team attended the Brooklyn Tech Expo during NYC Tech Week, connecting with purpose-driven founders and organizations using tech and AI to make a real impact.

We had a table, we got new headshots, we swapped ideas (and LinkedIns), and we met people who are building the future — not just faster, but smarter and more responsibly.

Because let’s face it: we’re not gonna beat the machines… so we’re teaming up with the ones using them for good. 🤖✨

As Mental Health Awareness Month wraps up, we want to honor Kevin Love, a true Rebel For A Cause who redefined what strength looks like in professional sports. 🧠🏀💙

In a world where athletes are expected to be invincible, Kevin Love chose vulnerability. In 2018, the NBA champion and five-time All-Star shocked the sports world by opening up about his experiences with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression, breaking an unspoken code in professional athletics.

Since then, Love has become one of the most influential mental health advocates in the game, using his platform to start life-saving conversations and launch the Kevin Love Fund, dedicated to prioritizing mental wellness and creating emotional tools for young people.

He taught us that asking for help isn’t weakness — it’s courage. And that healing doesn’t happen in silence — it starts with honesty.

This month, we celebrate Kevin not just for what he’s done on the court, but for the lives he's changed off of it. Because the real victory is choosing yourself, again and again.

Gen Z isn’t waiting for glossy brochures. They’re already talking about college on TikTok and Instagram.

In partnership with NASH, we explored how influencer marketing is shaping the college conversation and what it means for how we reach and resonate with today’s prospective students.

From humor to financial aid, these videos reveal what students actually think and offer insight into how higher ed communicators can show up with relevance, clarity, and connection.

Our latest blog breaks it down. Link in bio to read the full piece.
