Someone sits in their car and looks you up before driving over. They want two things: are you open, and where are you.

They get three different answers. An old directory with a phone number you had in 2019. A map pin a block off. Hours on Facebook from a holiday two years ago. None of it is wrong on purpose. It just piled up.

That's where people give up and pick the place that gave one clear answer. A website fixes that by being the one page that's actually yours, with your name, address, phone and hours matching everywhere else online.

There's a program at the front desk that everybody complains about. The workaround for the workaround is on a sticky note stuck to the monitor, and new people learn the quirks before they learn the job.

You keep it because switching sounds worse than living with it, and because nobody ever told you there was another option.

There is. Software can be built to match how your place already runs, instead of the other way around. I've built that, including the CRM a wholesale advisory firm runs their day on.

You asked the company that built your website to change one word on the homepage. A price, a name, something small. That was three weeks ago and it's still in the queue.

Meanwhile you're paying every month for a site you can't touch, and if you ever stop paying, it disappears. Nothing you paid for comes with you.

It doesn't have to work that way. A website can be a thing you own outright, on a domain in your name, with the files handed over at the end. When something needs changing, it goes through you, not through a queue.

You've been reupholstering furniture in the same shop for thirty years. People bring you chairs their grandmother sat in, and they leave better than they looked new.

Almost nobody outside your regulars has ever seen that work. It lives in other people's living rooms. That isn't a marketing failure. It's what happens when you're busy doing the work instead of photographing it.

One good, well-lit photo of a finished piece does more than ten hurried ones. A handful of those, somewhere online that belongs to you, and a stranger can finally see what your regulars already know.

Somebody in your office is typing the same job three times. Once on the intake sheet when the call comes in. Again into the calendar. Again into the invoice on Friday.

Nobody planned it that way. It grew one workaround at a time, and now someone who's good at their job spends every Friday afternoon doing data entry.

It doesn't have to keep working like that. The job gets entered once and shows up everywhere it needs to be. Same information, same process you already use, typed one time instead of three.

You've been meaning to get a website up for about two years now. The thing stopping you probably isn't the money. It's the pile you think comes with it. Writing all the words about yourself. Finding photos. Deciding on fonts and colors you have no opinion about.

Here's the part nobody tells you: that's my job, not yours. You talk, I write it down, I show you a page. Most of what I need is a conversation and whatever photos are already on your phone.

If that's the part you've been dreading, I'd love to take it off you.

The spreadsheet worked great when you had twelve customers. Now there are a couple hundred, four tabs, color coding only you understand, and a quiet fear of sorting one column wrong and scrambling all of it.

That's not a mistake you made. That's what growth looks like from the inside.

The spreadsheet did its job. It just doesn't fit anymore, and the fix isn't some big system you have to bend your business around. Golden Rose Advisors runs on one I built for them, shaped around how their team already works.
