Through recent Texas RFIs, Jasper County has been reviewed for major industrial projects representing $2.1B+ in potential investment and 4,400+ jobs across aerospace, food, plastics, and construction.

📌 Projects reviewed include:
• Aerospace manufacturing campuses (up to 1,805 jobs)
• $1B food & beverage facility (up to 1,000 jobs)
• Plastics packaging facility (65 jobs)
• Construction materials plant (260 jobs)

👉 While the likelihood of selection is unknown, one thing is certain: if we don’t try, we don’t get. Jasper County’s assets — rail, utilities, and strategic location — put us in the game.

Major momentum for Buna and Jasper County.

After nearly two years of focused advocacy by John Hargrove, Tricia Jagneaux, and Will Withers with Buna Regional Economic Development, our efforts to spotlight Buna and the historic Bessmay rail site are beginning to pay off in a big way.

County Line Rail has officially acquired the Sabine Northern Railroad from International Paper and is launching a series of strategic infrastructure projects aimed at unlocking the region’s industrial potential.

Key developments include:
• A new rail yard in Silsbee at the former LP plant site
• A railcar storage facility in Buna at the former Bessmay Rail site, elevated through our team’s local engagement
• Visionary plans for a rail-served industrial park along the Sabine Northern corridor

The Sabine Northern connects to three Class I railroads, creating a powerful link between the Golden Triangle and Jasper County, and positioning Buna as a vital hub in the region’s logistics network.

This progress is the direct result of consistent, behind-the-scenes work to bring state, regional, and private-sector attention to the assets and opportunity right here in Buna.
