What’s your move?

Yeah, I’m sure business is “fine,” otherwise you would have closed up shop months ago.

But is it thriving? Is it what you dreamt of when you started this business?

Because if so, keep doing what you’re doing.. in fact double-down on what you’re doing.

But if it’s not.. there is one thing that stops services businesses from getting over the hump, and that’s lead gen.

PREDICTABLE, measurable, lead gen.

Can you do just fine without it? Yeah, maybe.

But it’s extremely difficult (nearly impossible) to scale without it.

This isn’t me saying “you need me.” Because you may not.

What I am saying, is you need something. You need a plan, a system, something that YOU have control over.

And if you can build that yourself, then you certainly should (hopefully some tips from my page can help you out).

Winners vs. Losers

All of the winners I’ve worked with weren’t determined by how well I did my job, but how they did theirs.

The problem is everyone wants to make more money, but few are committed to do the little things required.

Sometimes you don’t “feel” like calling that lead as soon as they come in. The winners do it anyway.

Sometimes following up with your pipeline “feels” like a waste of time. The winners do it anyway.

I’m telling you, with or without Kline Video on your side, the biggest impact on lead conversion is going to be your determination to call them immediately and follow-up regularly.

With that being said, the first part (getting the lead), is often a lot easier with our help.

Has anyone had any success with boosting? Actually?

I’ve just never seen consistent, measurable ROI on boosted posts.

Now, if it’s working for you, by all means, boost away.

I prefer something I can track a little more closely.

For me, that’s ads.

I can measure every metric I want, I can adjust the investment, and track clear ROI.

That is how you build a marketing plan.

Don’t overcomplicate content as a service business here in Michigan.

First of all, you’re probably not competing with a ton of companies (on social media).

Yeah maybe there is that one huge regional company that does a lot of content, but you can likely build MORE trust by being the local Michigan solution.

These are some general ideas but do NOT stop here. Have some creativity, allow yourself to sit and think about what a potential customer might want to see.

Maybe it’s a day in the life of one of your workers, maybe it’s how you prep a home before you work on it, or maybe it’s following some trend just to show you don’t take yourself too seriously.

That is the beauty of this, every post doesn’t have to be “right.” In fact, most probably won’t get many views but that is not the goal.

The goal is to give a potential customer something (or someone) to point to before they buy.

Having a website is better than the competitor who doesn’t have a website, having 5-star reviewers is better yet, if a customer can see you or some of your workers on social media that is just one extra reason to go with you over the competitor.

And that doesn’t even touch on the possible reach and trust building social media can do as well.

Yes it can be a lot of work. But commitment to it over the long term is always worth it.

Referrals are not a bad thing, in fact they are far from it.

I think there are ways to build referral systems that CAN generate consistent growth (I’m admittedly not a pro at this).

The problem with referrals is counting on them leads to unpredictability. Which in business, I hate.

We want marketing that comes down to math. Increase investment by x, see y increase in revenue.

If you have a referral plan that can do something like this, it’s probably working great for you. The problem is, some people get by on referrals for a LONG time and assume they have it figured out.

The truth is, you just haven’t hit a low point yet. There will come a time where the referrals stop rolling and if you don’t have a plan in place to market yourself… you’re out of luck.

That is why I like the ad route. Build ads that convert, once you have the system in place you can scale it by increasing spend. It’s simple and more importantly, PREDICTABLE.

Why drones are the most important tool for making money.

Honestly.. I don’t hate drones (I think they are awesome actually) I just also know that awesome drone shots are stopping a lot of Michigan Business owners from creating their own content.

I get it, you see these incredible ads from companies around the country or maybe even competitors of yours.

You think, well, I can’t afford to do something that incredible so what’s the point of doing anything at all?

And THAT is my problem. Yes those beautiful cinematic videos can do great things for you company, but they are FAR from necessary.

Before you even THINK about fancy videos like that, I would make sure you have tapped out every bit of value you can with simple high converting video ads that are built around a strong offer and understanding of your customers needs.

If you do that, you’ll find more success than the worlds best drone shots could bring you.

Imperfect action.

If there is anything I have learned from starting a business and improving at advertising, it’s that imperfect action is the only answer to most your concerns.

You can tweak every little detail of your first post to try to make it perfect but in 6 months you’ll probably still look back at it and laugh. So you might as well fail fast so you can improve fast.

Post, create, iterate, and you’ll find yourself in a better place than you were in before. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting the results you’ve always got.

TLDR be okay with looking bad on your way to success, because it’s likely the only way to get there.

Get CLEAR in your Offer.

Everyone wants to fix their production value first. Yes it can have an impact, but prioritize the high leverage things first.

Build a strong offer and make it clear why you are the solution to your avatar’s problem.

Don’t hire me.

Honestly, if you don’t think you need to, then don’t. I am not in the business of “convincing” business owners they need me.

At the end of the day, if you can form a great offer, learn how to formulate that offer into an easy to understand message that speaks to your target audience, and use YouTube to learn how to post/track ads… then you don’t really need a videographer or a nice camera.

I don’t say this to say I don’t want a job.. I say this because I think even small companies should be trying to run ads. If you can’t afford to pay an agency who already knows how to do it, you can learn yourself and be effective. Don’t let the lack of camera gear prevent you from trying.

It doesn’t always need to be super complicated…

Just provide value.

This is a simple way to show you understand your customers needs and know how to deliver those needs.

Am I saying that posting this will guarantee you views/likes/$$… obviously not😂

But if you feel stuck, knowing you need to post on social media or try some sort of advertising, this is a great place to start.
