The North Cedar Neighborhood Association (NCNA) was formed in July, 2009 at the urging of City Council member Tom Hagarty (Ward 1) and citizen Bill Morse. The two organized an informational meeting, and with very positive feedback, the North Cedar Neighborhood Association was formed. In the following months, temporary directors were voted in as bylaws were created, and committees were formed to move the neighborhood forward. Although the catalyst of formation was the devastating Flood of 2008, the need for a Neighborhood Association was long over due. The mission of the NCNA is to strengthen the community, promote safety and quality of life, and to facilitate neighbors' pursuit of other common interests. In other words, we're here to make our neighborhood better. We want our neighborhood to continue to be an attractive, vibrant part of Cedar Falls. We want to keep our neighborhood school thriving. With the Flood buyout process potentially affected over 200 families, organization of the collective voice was necessary. Absolutely necessary. North Cedar Neighborhood Association
