It's September and pumpkins are everywhere but do you like to WEAR orange? If you do it's communicating energy, confidence, and a playful, outgoing personality.

It's a high-energy mix of red and yellow that boosts enthusiasm and motivation.

It also reads as friendly and approachable as well as warm and welcoming.

The first swarm of dragonflies I ever saw was on a playground at work right before my best friend called to tell me she was pregnant.

The second time was in 2009 the morning after my mom's dad (Poppie) passed away. I had been at my parents' house the night before and stayed up late feeling like something was going to happen and sure enough my grandmother called with the news and I had to wake up my parents to tell them. It was raining. It was my first big loss and it was a heavy night.

The next morning Mom and I went outside with our coffee and there were dragonflies swarming all over my parents' back yard. We laughed in wonder. It was my first big loss and I remember thinking I'd have to just push through with blind hope but those dragonflies felt like a tangible, real reminder that God was with us and everything would be ok.

They became very special to us and there are countless stories of dragonfly spottings.

Many years later When Mom and I were in Florida together, we got matching dragonfly tattoos to commemorate it.

In the months since mom's passing I see them at the most interesting and serendipitous times.

This is the third time, a week after my grandmother joined my grandfather and my mom in Heaven.

So much love.

Happy birthday to Shari of Style by Color, a woman who has dramatically impacted my life for over 15 years. I can't imagine my life without her and I'm so blessed by her influence and leadership. This was when I first met her in person in 2012 and she set me straight that I was a Deep, not a Clear. My mom went on stage that night in front of 500 ASU students to demonstrate the Cool Color Code and Shari told her to give me all her gold jewelry and she did 😅 That night impacted me so much. Afterward she asked me "Have you thought about doing what I do?" and I was all in and haven't looked back.

💖 One thing I often hear from my color analysis ladies is that exploring their best colors helps them learn more about who they are.

On the intake questionnaire I ask people why they are getting a color analysis and one of the options is self-exploration.

This week, which started with losing my beloved grandmother, has been an absolute rollercoaster ride.

Drew just wrapped up a major home remodel, too.

Having a few days off is just what we need.
